How many of his recievers return? It seemed they had an uncanny knack of being able to bail Pike out when he was in trouble.

Great article on a great kid from a great family! Watch out for "Froggy" (lil' bro) next year!

Maybe Matney got on here and read all the hype on being "one dimensional" and "can't win with smash-mouth football only". I only remember one pass...it opened the game and was completed to Bardo(?). -
If Brady were Bengal's QB, what would their record be?

How many are FB players? Are they practicing hoops and then dressing out FB on Friday?

5A: Highlands/Johnson Central predictions

LN...Does JC run any overbalanced line sets? I seem to remember them running overbalance line right, and then coming left out of a full house backfield. It sufficiently outmanned us at the point of attack and really put pessure on the OLB/CB. It gave us fits in '08. -
Whoa, Cowboys! Commenting on a play...NOT a person. And this IS a site to have an opinion, isn't it? Didn't see the hit on #5 so I can't comment on it one way or another. Guess I wasn't watching "off the ball". What happens in the upper leagues filters down to the lower one's. If they are "legislating" certain type hits out of the game, it won't be long before the HS level follows suit. Just glad BOTH boys weren't hurt. Here's something we CAN agree on: Go Birds!!! 20n10!!! I apologize if I have offended anyone...it wasn't intentional, for sure.

Just to throw a little salt in some wounds down south...here's a couple shots from our last visit... (1) with less than a minute to go in the 3rd quarter, HHS clinging to a 21-14 lead. JC methodically drives deep into the HHS redzone until Sr. DE Kody "Rosie" Rosenhagen picks the pocket of the ball carrier and "rumbles" the length of the field for the score that would effectively "seal the deal". Escorted by fellow Sr. DE Adam Dempsey. (2) HHS fans at JC '08 -
I really liked Dixie's passing game. I thought they kind of took their foot off the pedal coming out of halftime. They had the Birds reeling and were getting the ball first. HHS D stepped up and forced a 3 and out, HHS scored on the ensuing drive and Dixie began to "doubt". Birds never did stop the man in motion reciever and Dixie recievers looked to have a 3 yard bubble to catch in all over the field. Might have been a different outcome if Dixie completes the "down the middle bomb" in the first quarter. Highlands showed great resolve and the difference in the game is that Highlands kids expect to win...no matter the situation. It's similar to UC's mantra "Next Man IN!" The coaches train the "understudies" to be winners at the Frosh-JV level so they can contribute when needed at the Varsity level. As for the conduct on the field...I blame the coaches. Let me go "old school" here for a moment. Personal fouls (player control) cannot be accepted! Coaches HAVE to pull the offender immediately. My old ball coach did this...and met you at the numbers to explain, in no uncertain terms, that this type behavior would NOT be tolerated. And your playing time WAS affected. The hit late in the game on Dixie reciever #15 was, IMO, unnecessary and would have been $$$ fine in the league. Game was in hand, clock was dwindling out the final seconds, reciever was "defenseless"...and the defender could have possibly incurred injury himself...wasn't worth the risk at that point in the game. I expected better. "Moose" McCoy should have been more frequently on the field somewhere this year. Too good of an athlete to stand around on Friday.

Jimmy Lokesak of Ludlow was a pretty fair back. Went on to play at UK. I'm surprised Ludlow didn't rename the city after him! LOL!

Awww...that ain't right! Funny....but it ain't right! -
Seems like a certain FB game from 1975 keeps rearing its ugly head on this site...........LOLOLOL!!

Don't the kids working for the FB team get help with the cost of books...maybe a scholly? Certainly they could also "qualify" for other type of aid. IF this was the case at ND, then THAT is ample "pressure" enough to compel a person to act against better judgement. My prayers go out to the young man's family and friends.

Covington Catholic/Johnson Central Predictions

Along with the black jerseys and black under armour sleeves, it DOES make it difficult to pick up who has the ball in their option style offense. Good luck to the crew announcing the game...hope you have "young eyes" for spotters! Go Colonels! (I can't believe I posted THAT! LOL!) -
Ryle's Conner Hempfel vs Campbell's Michael Kremer
UCRN replied to JDOMAX's topic in KY Football (High School)
Both are great QB's and leaders for their teams. I hope BOTH have outstanding games...but Ryle will win this one. -
Jeff McMahon, NKPOY in 1975, was an unbelievable player and leader. I used him as a "talking point" for years in the FTJFL. Jeff was way down the depth chart as a freshman. He loved the game and his teammates, worked hard and MADE himself into a great player. He was a shining example of why if you believe it, you can be it!

5A--Highlands/Woodford County Playoff Predictions

...or the 915...and they serve adult beverages! -
Could you imagine what the 10 class would do with some leaders going both ways? ...and some back-ups being able to play both sides of the ball? HHS can't claim a "small school disadvantage" argument if they don't use their better athletes to their best advantage. That said, I can't believe I'm spanking on a system that has lost 2 games in half a decade. LOL!

Congrats to the Kremer family and his teammates!

I'm pulling for the Bluebirds (duh!), but I also hope #69 on the "team from Park Hills" has a good game!
