Heard turnovers killed Dixie and their defense looked really tired in the second half.

Hasn't the knock on Dixie always been their lack of conditioning at the beginning of the season?

Indeed.

Way to go Breds ! How did the Dixie QB look ?

Dixie threw 3 picks. 2 by Pike and 1 by DeMatteo.

Pike sees the field well and has a strong arm. He did force some throws as expected. He also played the entire game on defense. By midway through the 3rd, his passes were sailing high. He was tired.

Dixie started with a 4 man front, which slowed NCC down. Then the went to a 3 man and NCC just pounded the rock up the middle.

Bruns played a good game. He's gotten faster since last year. IMO, they didn't get the ball to him enough in the 2nd half.

#7 for Dixie was immobilized and carted off the field in the 3rd after being blocked by Cain. It didn't look good.

Pike looked like a very talented QB starting his first varsity game. Some good plays some bad. 23 was the best player for Dixie offensively the kid is quick. I hope that #7 is ok. NewCath played bad th first half as Dixie attacked their perimeters. Way to many soft corners to turn on the jet sweep. The second half NewCath ran behind big Jack and Jake and just ran down Dixies throat for the rest of the game. If their is a more powerful backfield than Kelly and Cain then I want to see it. They both put the smack down running, tackling, and Cain crushed DBs when blocking downfield. Pike had them in position to tie but tried to force a ball to the end zone that was intercepted. He throws a nice ball and his decision making will get sharper. NewCath wanted it more in the second half and took it.

You are correct. He was a handful on the counter and jet sweeps. I was confused why the stopped giving it to him as well

Was Pike out of the game when Dematteo threw his pick? I know Pike is a pretty good defensive player but how much does his playing both ways hurt the team?

Yes. He twisted his ankle on the previous play and was getting taped. DeMatteo came in, and on the first play at qb, threw the pick.

Some might say it's best for the team that he plays both ways, but not tonight. When he got tired, he got lazy on defense and on offense, his passes started sailing high. Plus, he was fighting cramps in the 4th. IMO, he serves the team best when just playing QB. He has less to worry about, and he'll be more crisp in the 4th quarter.

Dixie plays a lot of players both ways which doesn't help.

How NCC can put up 200 yards passing is beyond me. They simply have no passing game.

#7 for Dixie is a good football player.

Dixie is a big-play team. Not much on sustaining drives.

Zeke played OK. Inconsistent. He throws a nice-looking long pass with no effort. Struggles on other passes - just inconsistent.

Not to surprised by this. The majority of those voting picked 2A NCC to win this one.

Was Dixie missing any skill players tonite? Other than the back they do not seem to have much team speed.

I believe for Dixie to be successful they need to only play Pike on key defensive plays and save him for QB.He can't go both ways an entire game. I think Dixie was missing one of their key receivers tonight, Goose Cohorn.

Thanks. He and Leonard are a nice combo.
