Not taking anything away from Hightchew, but I would guess 10 of his completions were quick safe swing passes that didn't require much passing skill.

 

I only remember one downfield pass and the kid dropped it.

Hightchew completed 66% of his passes for an adverage gain of 17.3yds. per completion/12.5yds. per attempt.

Pike completed 40% of his passes for an adverage gain of 17.9yds. per completion/7yds. per attempt. I realy like both of these kids, but if these stats. were reversed Zeke would be considered the next Tim Tebow. Hightchew is probably the most underated QB in Northern Ky.

He's an athlete who occasionally passes the ball. Two factors led to 225 yards - 1)Dixie's poor defensive back play and 2)hitting passes when the D is sucked in to stop the run.

 

NC's game is not passing.

I only caught the last 8-9 minutes of this game, but based on those minutes I was very un-impressed with Dixie. This goes for those players highly touted as well as those not. If Dixie doesn't find a way to play a whole game it will be a long year for them and I think some of the scholarships we have heard about will start to disappear.

 

Again, based on those 8-9 minutes, NCC looked like a team confident in their ability and very much wanting the W.

Dixie needs to play Pike only on offense this year. If they need him both ways next year, fine. Forget the games, which you really can't, the real advantage I believe is allowing him to concentrate his full attention on the QB position during practices. Give him a chance to learn to be a quarterback. He made a couple of pretty bad mistakes that his receivers dug him out of last night.

 

It was impressive to watch NCC stay with it. Those boys never stopped thinking they could win that game.

Better throwers have better completion percentages. Half of NCC's game last night was passing. As Clyde said earlier only one pass was downfield which the kid droped?? IMHO the key to the game was turnovers that lit a fire under NCC.

Not a problem. Dixie was sadly out of shape. The worse coach in the U.S. has the ability to have his team in shape. IMO, not having your kids in shape to play is inexcusable.

i'm not sure conditioning was as important as 4 turnovers in the second half. If NewCath has 4 turnovers in the second half instead of Dixie , Dixie wins by 4 touchdowns.

Correction last year he was an athlete who occasionally threw the ball. This year he is a running qb. He threw a couple very nice balls after the first quarter. He is still smoothing out the edges. That said newcath will not win oftrn if they have to throw to win. The offense is three dimensional and all parts need the others to work

I'd say that you only watched half the game. They had them on back to back plays twice
