  1. I used to blame all the "trickeration" on Gary Schrader...now it looks as if Jared is "the evil genius"! LOL! Anyway, I thought the call was brilliant! I'm surprised HoosierBF isn't a season pass holder. And it was good to see all of my "heroes" from when I was in FTJFL honored on the field before the game. I hear next week is the 1960 State Team! My former HC, Roger Walz, will be part of that contingent.......don't know who will feel older! LOL! Should be a GREAT evening of past and present HHS football...hint: GET THERE EARLY!
  2. So NCC is going to be travelling down the "Double J Highway" this year? EXCELLENT!!
  3. I thought the Bowden boy played a whale of a game last night on the D-line. Multiple sacks and TFL's! Was constantly harrassing in the backfield. And big #1...Ty Seidl...had an outstanding game as well! But I want to know if the first play of the game was Dale's call...or J-Lo's??? LOL!
  4. I look for the Breds to play the Red Colonels tough....if fact, they are my "upset special"...Breds 22 Dixie 18
  5. Too bad it'll be a year late to get Brian Kelly!
  6. Not trying to slight Mr. Andrews at all...he's a fabulous talent and deserving of the honor.. And if you take a player the caliber of Andrews off a smaller squad it will make a more significant difference. I'm just saying AC COULD have had way better numbers if he was in a more "selfish" system. Heck...I congratulate everyone even MENTIONED in this thread for they had to have had an outstanding career!
  7. ESPN predicted 7-5 for ND this year. Will that be enough to keep the dogs at bay?
  8. Dale Mueller, NCOY, was the reason AC didn't win it. If Dale would have used AC like he did in the State game all season, his numbers would have made it a "no brainer". Same could be said for a lot of past HHS stalwarts that played only 1/2 a game for most the season.
  9. LOVED this recap! Hope he covers games with the same detail! Good work, RB!
  10. Reminds me of the old Muddogs team from years ago. A mix of kids from Bellevue, Ft. T, Southgate that won the City B championship. Congrats to those young Wildcats! I know it's a big thrill! What makes dem Wildcats WILD?
  11. I carried the towel and water bottle for the "distinguished" LN...thus "near-ly distinguished"! LOL! and the point was "were the Birds flat?" in '07 against LCentral, yes in '08 against BS yes, in '09 against St. X NO! Common points to all 3 games: Birds find a way to win...and go on and win 17, 18, & 19. Go Birds...20n10+12!!
  12. The biggest difference was against BS the Birds were the prohibitive FAVORITE....against St. X, they were the prohibitive UNDERDOG. It's hard to be FLAT when you're the Dog. HHS played flat against BS and INSPIRED against St. X.
  13. I think they were flat...and BS was jacked up! Birds had chances to put the game away and didn't. (interception to the 6 yd line and come away with no points comes to mind). A stellar 3 minute drill, culminating with a Guidugli to Collinsworth TD strike, finally put a VERY talented BS team away. I do believe the Birds learned a valuable lesson that evening...even though they didn't lose.
  14. You don't HAVE to lose to learn lessons ('08 v. L'Ville Central / '09 v. Bryan Station), but when it eventually DOES COME, looking inward individually AND as a team is VERY beneficial and is one of those times in life that "character" is exhibited. Win with class, lose with more class...just don't make it a habit! LOL!
  15. It's more of a "deal" to the fans than the players. It is a SCRIMMAGE...shouldn't count in the ratings, no W/L. Coaches WILL experiment and call differently as well as substitute liberally. Probably have no kicking game other than non-rush/return punts or FG. A GREAT chance for BOTH teams to get a final tweak to their line-ups. All that said...They WILL keep score and the hitting will be full bore! BOTH sides want to come out on top in this one, badly! Should be a GREAT event...get there early!
  16. That's what promotes growth and strength for living organisms!!
  17. Didn't Duffy get a fabulous offer from Henderson: Salary, house, car, country club membership, radio show, no teaching classes...? I also remember his initial introduction to Highlands where he stated: "I'm not here to run an intramural FB program."
  18. Child, please! As long as the Birds win, the haters will never shut their mouths. And they'll REALLY be chirping when (and if) they lose! As a graduate and religious fan, one to another, please get involved with the programs...be it academic, sports, band, etc...they ALL need our support. (that is, assuming you've not already) 20n10+12 :ylsuper:
  19. REALLY! Have you been around the HHS program(s)? The $$ well runs only so deep...and it is CONSTANTLY being pulled from in MANY directions. The "let's just have a fundraiser" solution is just about tapped out. Better to have the Herbie...or some other promoter...bring the game local and stimulate our economy rather than give it away to another locale. And although Bluebird Nation travels well...they would be dominated by a crowd from a school such as 6A Texas (et.al.) But hey, cut to the chase, you just want to see someone...anyone...beat Highlands.
  20. You've GOT to be kidding! I remember someone saying that HHS loses money going to State!
  21. Isn't this the algebraic equation that ends with N=STATE CHAMPIONSHIP (with thanks to Don Dobson!)
  22. FIRE THE COACH! An OBVIOUS lack of institutional control! And don't let Father Flannigan just give them 3 Our Fathers and an Act of Contrition! Seriously, all this proves is ALL colleges are a microcosm of society and NO institution is above these type situations. :ylsuper:
  23. ...as if the birds need the "added pressure" LOL!!!
