Pike adds big-time offers

Featured Replies

Defending national champion Alabama has verbally offered a football scholarship to Dixie Heights 6-5 junior Zeke Pike.

Pike, who has yet to start a varsity game at quarterback, said he also received an offer from Auburn over the weekend.

Pike, the son of former NFL veteran Mark Pike, played tight end and outside linebacker last season. Dixie coach Tom Spritzky said some schools are recruiting Pike as a quarterback, others as an athlete.

According to Ryan Ernst recruiting blog.

Wow

Where's the "Armchair College Coaches" now?

Zeke may be good enough to play in Tuscaloosa but the question remains, is he good enough to play in Ft. Thomas?? :D

Who said that he was not good enough to play in Ft. Thomas? He would be welcomed with open arms. No doubt this kid is a Division I talent if for no other reason than he has the physique that college coaches are looking for. The fact that he is a holdback makes him look even more attractive to big time college coaches. I still believe that he will not play QB in college, but will definitely play somewhere based upon his athletic ability.

I think he would make a monster defensive end in college..

If I may respectfully point out that most of those "Armchair College Coaches" weren't questioning his skills or abilities to be a D-1 player; rather they were questioning if he was the best QB in the state as some were claiming, in light of the fact he hadn't taken one snap on varsity as the QB. The fact that he has received some fantastic offers from exceptional schools does mean the colleges think he has the skills to play D-1 football at some position; not necessarily at QB though.

Congrats to the young man. I hope he has a great high school career and a great college career. If he is fortunate enough to make it to the NFL, I'll be cheering him on all the way.

Im going to go out on a limb here and assume flotsam was talking about playing the quarterback position. Yes he would be welcomed with open arms, to play tight end or as a defensive end. Highlands is set at the quarterback position.

Heck, if he played at CovCath, he'd already be the best QB ever in the history of the school. :D right back at you my friend.

Come now, we all know that some of the comments made by people were simple shots at the young man, and they were implying that he was not that good. By saying, "He is athletic but will never play QB at the next level" the person is taking a shot. We know that.

How many people took shots at Larenzen by saying things like he could never play QB in SEC? I'll bet people took that as derogatory as well.

If Zeke had matriculated at Cov. Cath., as good a player as he is, how long would it have been before his folks were apartment shopping in Ft. Thomas? :D :D

Isn't this his first year as a starter?

Yes it is.

I wonder how many offers disappear this season?

More come than go, I bet!
