Alabama's QBs have been pretty average.

 

Seriously? Croyle was not bad at all in college and is in the league now. JPW was seriously underrated IMO. And McElroy seems pretty good to me, remember he was in his first year starting last year so he will be much better this season. I don't think he has ever lost a game as a starter, going back to middle school. Maybe their not Heisman material (I think McElroy might get some love this year), but all three were pretty good to me.

If Saban and Co say he's good, that should be enough for just about anyone. I do wonder if it is an offer that he can commit to right now though, or if it is a wait and see kind of thing for most of them.

He could commit whenever I guess, though I don't know if it would be official. Kiffin took a commit from a 5 year old at QB a few months ago.

This all makes me wonder why SK's back up QB is not being recruited? DJ Rabe got plenty of playing time at TE/LB and played QB during all of the blow out games last year Rabe is 6'5 and he also played Forward for the basketball team.

They are building this kid up like the second coming of Christ. I honestly feel a little bad for him, especially if he doesnt live up to these standards being set.

 

 

I agree with you. He still looks a little soft to me. He's got good size and a great arm, but not quite sure about his mental makeup. Saw some rather immaturity from him the past two seasons. If he works hard and dedicates himself a little more, he could be a star.

Colleges are recruiting size and athletic ability, Pike possesses both of these attributes. Glad he is getting big time offers, I am happy to see any local kid get the opportunity to play at the next level and have their education paid for. I don't see him being a big time college QB however, would need to improve alot. 5 picks in a 7o7 last week? Not exactly a stellar performance. What's going to happen when he feels the heat of a pass rush? Should be interesting.

 

Scrambling and making plays under pressure will be the best part of Pike's game at QB. He is a load to bring down.

So, let me make sure I understand what you are saying. He will perform better when he has pressure vs. no pressure? Is it safe to say you were not there last Thursday? You make it sound like he will be better throwing the ball while dragging someone than in a 7o7 situation with no pressure whatsoever. Head scratcher?

I agree with you; this isn't a Highlands thread. Now go back and find the first serious post that got the discussion off of Pike's offer from Bama and re-directed at the people who were supposedly questioning his D-1 talent. It isn't from a Highlands person by the way (or a CovCath person either).

No, it was from me, and it was a relevant point giving the fact that people were question his playing ability at the D1 level.
