I hope you don't plan on doing the same every time another thread is made about Pike getting another D-1 offer. Even if there were some posters questioning whether he had D-1 abilities (most questioned whether he was a D-1 qb in light of the fact he has yet to take one snap as a varsity high school QB), I really don't see the reason to rub those few posters' noses in it. :madman:

Regardless of Alabama's QB history quiz, Pike must have a lot of potential to receive an offer from Alabama. Good luck to him with whatever decision he makes.

^^^Not very good, he was before Bear, and under our worst coach in our history. And a great job on the questions, most non Bama folks miss Rutledge. I'll be around several people who bring up Bama and I'll find a woman or child in the crowd. I then ask them how well they know college football and ask can I ask them some questions? Every question has Bama as the answer and they quickly catch on and get every question correct.

 

I'd love to see more updats on this kid and maybe even travel to watch a game later in the season. Looking forward to keeping the Northern pipeline to the South. Coach Saban will play the best QB to fit our system.

For the love of Pete it is a sports blog. When a player is getting the attention he's getting and has never played the position before in High School there is going to be debate. If everyone took your approach 'Bluegrass Preps" would cease to exist. Heck, start a thread and label it "Congratulatory Responses Only."

This is the only congraulatory thread where this has happened. Mainly because the kid hasnt even taken a varsity snap yet. This is a discussion forum. And were all adults here. We can question things if its a reasonable question to discuss. Which this is.

I agree with you about these threads being about congrats. If you hadn't made your "see I'm right" post, perhaps we'd have not gotten sidetracked, or perhaps not as quickly. If somethings are getting old with you, quit reading them; take a break from the site (I've done it often); do whatever it takes.

This all makes me wonder why SK's back up QB is not being recruited? DJ Rabe got plenty of playing time at TE/LB and played QB during all of the blow out games last year Rabe is 6'5 and he also played Forward for the basketball team.

 

I wonder if Rabe has been on the road for the past two years attending camps? From what I've been reading Zeke has been which is why he is getting alot of respect from college coaches. If you want to be the best, then compete with the best! Just like Travis Elliot and Patrick Towles for example going out to camps. Remember when you impress one scout or one coach the news will travel about the kid and more people keep an eye out for him.

I think Rabe has been busy playing AUU basketball. Pike can be the best QB ever but I just dont think Dixie has what it takes to win the big games. They might get lucky and have a better record than last year of 5-8.

No way he plays LB in college. Its quaterback or Tight end maybe some DE but no way LB, I think he will go to choose a school that will give him a chance at QB. I haven't heard anything about him playing LB hes to big.

Seen him throw recently. Here are some of my observations:

Holds the ball in a correct pre-pass position, meaning holds the ball below his throwing ear with the ball tilted away at about 45 degrees. This tilted position means he has his wrist cocked in prepass, this eliminates the need to flex the wrist once he starts his throwing motion. The proper position is critical to be accurate consistently.

The next thing he does well is that he leads with his elbow on his throw. Doing this eliminates a slashing motion. Slashing motion is another common mistake that young qbs make and causes throws to be low and off the mark. It is also the most powerful position for the arm to use its full strength because you get full use of the tricep muscle.

 

Thirdly, when he throws he extends up and out. Doing this allows him to throw the ball accurately with pressure coming at him.

 

 

All of these things coupled with his size and athletic ability it easy to see why he is getting so many offers.
