Is Simon Kenton dead in the water?
Sk won't be a threat to Ryle or state

Simon Kenton 31 Dixie 28
I thought they had it right immediately. From where I was it looked like he lead with his helmet. I didn't think they were calling a late it but spearing. Also the one call I thought they missed was Pike jumping over the snapper to block that extra point. To me it looked like he was over the line before they snapped it. Congrats sk on the win. They will struggle this year from what I saw but they won't quit and that's all you can ask out of a football team. The heart they have may help them in a few

I would love to know how Pike was not offsides on the extra point.

Has Highlands Started Something?
This rule is terrible. It is restricting players that want to improve and taking away from college opportunities. This is a chance for these young men to get exposed to coaches form all different ranks. So whoever started the idea of parents doing this is on the right track if the rules allow it. Also equipment for a 7 on 7 wouldn't be to terribly expensive. You can get a helmet and jersey for 200-250. I think its a great idea and those parents in charge could do fundraisers for it, like previously stated its no different than AAU Basketball or Traveling baseball.

Has anyone heard anything further on Bellevue's coaching vacancy?

Holmes next coach will be......
I apologize for not knowing, but who is the Miller canidate?
-
Holmes next coach will be......
Sully is Covington born and raised. He along with his brother played for Holmes, his mother is in administration up there or at least was when I was in school there. Sullivan may be young to the Head coaching experiences but he has some of the intangibles the other coaches may not have. Yes Carr too graduated, played, and was an assistant at Holmes maybe 99-2001ish. I would assume these canidates have an advantage over others because of there ties to the program.

Scott High School getting turf???
I heard there were some complications while digging up the field that may have set them back a bit. This is just what I've heard, maybe someone can confirm this

Holmes next coach will be......
Me saying decent is meant as no disrespect towards the Scott program. They have mad some good progress but again I wouldn't leave Cooper for Scott. Nothing against them, like I said I would rather make a name for myself at a program that is up and coming than just be another name at a Scott. There is to much potential upside to Cooper right now, and unless Holmes was knocking on my door to coach I would stay put.
-
Holmes next coach will be......
That is a good thought. Maybe it's just me but if I where Coach Sullivan, if I didn't get the Holmes job I would stay at Cooper. It is a new program and instead of jumping ship over to Scott (decent program),I would want to build it at Cooper. Cooper is getting established and I would rather put my mark on that program rather than go to a school and be just another name waiting for my dream job.

Update: Elijah Pittman (Holmes)
Couldn't have said it any better. When I read that I immediately thought this was a good decision on his part. He has the ability to it, let's just hope he has the drive.

9th Region at the BOK. Can it be better?
While yes they do have some volunteers most are college students. I don't know the ratio of volunteers to actual employees but most of them are college kids working on campus. The prices are a little high but what venue is cheap outside of a high school location.

Who is the best 6th man in the 9th Region?
I think Keavon has an opportunity to be a very, very good player. He is young and won't be in his current role throughout his career but I would disagree with him being the best 6th man. While he has a lot of upside to him, currently you have to have a kid you can rely on to be there night in and night out for you. Rice has had some major struggles this year that has limited his productivity. He needs to work on his attitude and ability in order to be truly listed as a top 6th man. I mean this as no disrespect to Keavon because as I stated he will be one of the better players in years to come but right now he isn't there yet. Tucker gets my vote. He is a tough kid and contributes to that spark that has Newport as a legit contender in the 9th.

9th Region Predictions?
It's tourny time, and I'm well aware that anything can happen, but Holmes experience will pull them through. They seem to find another level this time of year, that not to many here in NKY can compete with.

Let's Discuss: Is Yates HS Going Too Far?
College is a lot different from high school. Like stated in the quote recruit harder. Recruiting isn't a privelage in High School sports, and some schools can't get the athletes that others are fortunate to have. Whether it be inner city or what not. 170-35 is as unsportsmanlike as it gets. You make the same statement from a 95-35 or even 100-35 score. Everyone knows you are the much better team by that margin of victory rather than imbarrasing a team by 135 points. What exactly does that prove? What statement does that make? To me it shows no class from the administration down and no positive example. When you put your starters back in when you up by 30 with 3 minutes left to try and break 100 that's asking for what many have already said, for someone to get hurt. The statement is made in the 30 points while your seconds or thirds are in the game. this coach may not be blessed with this talent in a few years and if I were a rival coach who has a good athletic class you can bet your life savings I will return the favor. Does that make me any better probably not, but what goes around comes around.

Five-point play?
Did anyone see the Celtics game last night? They had an interesting scenerio that resulted in a 5 point play and a 7 point point possesion. Hawks had a fast break and big baby Davis fouled the guy. They called it a flagorant foul, and the boston coach argued it should have simply been an intentional foul and got a 2 technical called on him, during this time his assistant also got T'd up resulting in 5 free throws. The player hit all the free throws and the Hawks got the ball back and made the basket. http://espn.go.com/blog/boston/celtics/post/_/id/4670876/cs-meltdown-allows-hawks-to-fly-off-with-win

Colerain, OH 68 Simon Kenton 47
 What is the deal with Colerain bball? I don't know to much about the school other than football. I think we all know that they have talent on the football field, do any of those athletes even attempt bball?

Holmes 59 Newport 41
While I agree Newport played good D in the 1st half the definitely did not control it. I really can't explain why they took so many outside jumpers. At no point did they make a strong attempt to go inside. As far as the FT you are correct they can keep you in a game or push you over the top and Newport had no legs in the 2nd to shoot them. I don't know much about Newport but #33 better his head on straight. He spent more time trash talking Pittman and complaining to the refs that he completely took himself out of the game. He got lucky he didn't get T up either for taunting after a foul call. I was impressed Holmes' D. I knew they were tough but I didn't realize how much they intimidated other teams. I felt that Newport really altered a lot of easy shots because of the presence of Holmes defenders.

Holmes 59 Newport 41
Like Walter said just the one, but he had the opportunity for another earlier in the game that had it gone through probably would have shattered the glass. He had what seemed to be some built up anger on that. It caught the back end of the rim and shot up pretty high in the air. It was an impressive miss had it gone through that place would have gone nuts. Newports #33 was trying to talk trash to Pittman after that and from the upper bleachers you could read Pittman's lips saying you almost became a poster. IMO, J.J should bring the ball up court more. Marc you been to more games than I maybe you can help me out here but I feel he is more comfortable handling the ball, so it seemed. Does he always play like that handling the ball or was it the opponent?
