  1. Wrong. Pride. Half the kids want to be there and the other half are happy to put on a uniform. I haven't been out to Scott this year but size and numbers would come to mind. Has nothing to do with open enrollment and everything to do with interest in the program.
  2. Holmes will win this in lop-sided fashion. Too much for the Eagles to handle. If Scott played Holmes' schedule they would not be 5-2. What common opponents have they played so far Lloyd and Bellevue???
  3. No one can question your fanhood that's for sure. SK is a good program there are far from becoming a powerhouse. They made a great run as underdogs to the finals but were quickly put in place by the true power in 6A. They need trophies before they can be a legit power program. They are on the right track but we'll see how they reapond after this years class departs. I hope they do become a power but they have a lot of work to be done to get there
  4. Your key part of the question there was "back in the day." I haven't been to many Boone games in sometime, but I'm assuming the coaching there is still trying to pound the ball down there opponents throats. In today's football that isn't going to work, unless your line is absolutely dominant. Boone, in years past, got away with this, because that's how football was played. In today's game you can not be that one-dimensional. There has to be balance in the offense, and they pack that big time. As far as the other schools opening up in the district, Boone is still a 6A school, so they couldn't have lost all their athletes. They still have a lot of young men roaming those hallways; so I believe that is just an excuse for people to use because the coaching fails to adapt to the new generation of football.
  5. There is no way anyone can answer this question no. When I was a player at Holmes we were good we just couldn't get passed Highlands. The program had some really hard years after our class. Lickert has it fun to go to games again. Yes the district competition there playing isn't that great but I believe he has some quality opponents on this schedule to prepare this team for a deep run. He s one heck of coach and his record is proving what he can do.
  6. I completely missed that one, I see it now. I thought RP was talking about NKY and got extremely confused on that.
  7. I know you're supporting a year in and year out contender and hopefully talking only 6A. I agree 6A is not that strong up here compared to the ville with Trinity and X but it is a respectable district full of good football. I don't understand how you can say it is a disappointing football town when we have 3 legit contenders for titles every year up here.
  8. When was the last time SK won state? Take the compliments that are given SK is a good program not a powerhouse, to be the best you have to beat the best and they haven't done that and won't do it this year. Cooper will give SK a great game and I think they have the pieces in place to win it.
  9. I by no means am trying to discredit what Lickert and his staff are doing down in Cov. I love seeing the program being turned around. I'm a former player and an 02' grad from there. I'm just trying to get some thoughts on them. I'm able to make about one game a year so this is where I can follow there progress.
  10. Nice win for the Dawgs, what's their district competition looking like this year? I know last year it wasn't that strong. Should Holmes consider scheduling a tougher non conference to prep for playoffs?
  11. I thought they had it right immediately. From where I was it looked like he lead with his helmet. I didn't think they were calling a late it but spearing. Also the one call I thought they missed was Pike jumping over the snapper to block that extra point. To me it looked like he was over the line before they snapped it. Congrats sk on the win. They will struggle this year from what I saw but they won't quit and that's all you can ask out of a football team. The heart they have may help them in a few
  12. I would love to know how Pike was not offsides on the extra point.
  13. LOL. It happens people as many have stated kids will be kids, to put this on the Coach though is wrong. I don't like BK for the way he left UC but he is a coach not a babysitter. His job is to win football games, which he's pretty good at. Once those kids leave the facilities they are on there own. They make their own decisions and mistakes, Kelly can't control that aspect of their life. What these players and college students did is normal for most, it isn't the end of the world. They'll get their punishment and move on.
  14. What's going on with the Scott frosh team, I heard there having some issues wiht the frosh coaching staff and admin from woodland?
  15. This rule is terrible. It is restricting players that want to improve and taking away from college opportunities. This is a chance for these young men to get exposed to coaches form all different ranks. So whoever started the idea of parents doing this is on the right track if the rules allow it. Also equipment for a 7 on 7 wouldn't be to terribly expensive. You can get a helmet and jersey for 200-250. I think its a great idea and those parents in charge could do fundraisers for it, like previously stated its no different than AAU Basketball or Traveling baseball.
  16. Has anyone heard anything further on Bellevue's coaching vacancy?
  17. I apologize for not knowing, but who is the Miller canidate?
  18. Sully is Covington born and raised. He along with his brother played for Holmes, his mother is in administration up there or at least was when I was in school there. Sullivan may be young to the Head coaching experiences but he has some of the intangibles the other coaches may not have. Yes Carr too graduated, played, and was an assistant at Holmes maybe 99-2001ish. I would assume these canidates have an advantage over others because of there ties to the program.
  19. I heard there were some complications while digging up the field that may have set them back a bit. This is just what I've heard, maybe someone can confirm this
  20. Me saying decent is meant as no disrespect towards the Scott program. They have mad some good progress but again I wouldn't leave Cooper for Scott. Nothing against them, like I said I would rather make a name for myself at a program that is up and coming than just be another name at a Scott. There is to much potential upside to Cooper right now, and unless Holmes was knocking on my door to coach I would stay put.
  21. That is a good thought. Maybe it's just me but if I where Coach Sullivan, if I didn't get the Holmes job I would stay at Cooper. It is a new program and instead of jumping ship over to Scott (decent program),I would want to build it at Cooper. Cooper is getting established and I would rather put my mark on that program rather than go to a school and be just another name waiting for my dream job.
  22. Couldn't have said it any better. When I read that I immediately thought this was a good decision on his part. He has the ability to it, let's just hope he has the drive.
  23. While yes they do have some volunteers most are college students. I don't know the ratio of volunteers to actual employees but most of them are college kids working on campus. The prices are a little high but what venue is cheap outside of a high school location.
  24. I think Keavon has an opportunity to be a very, very good player. He is young and won't be in his current role throughout his career but I would disagree with him being the best 6th man. While he has a lot of upside to him, currently you have to have a kid you can rely on to be there night in and night out for you. Rice has had some major struggles this year that has limited his productivity. He needs to work on his attitude and ability in order to be truly listed as a top 6th man. I mean this as no disrespect to Keavon because as I stated he will be one of the better players in years to come but right now he isn't there yet. Tucker gets my vote. He is a tough kid and contributes to that spark that has Newport as a legit contender in the 9th.
