WHO'S NEXT?

Kind of tough to gauge how Mayfield will come out for this one. Expecting a win, but... A... long road trip for a mid-season game B... Just coming off a game with the cross town rival C... District championship on the line next week vs Murray D... A little banged up with the MVP on the shelf for a few weeks. I could totally see Mayfield coming out flat for this game. Defense should lead the way here, with a couple of late scores sealing it... 27-7.

Bright may be out a few weeks. Glad to see Tyler getting some time at RB, but it's unfortunate it comes because of Trajon's arm/shoulder. Still wonder where a few those passes were supposed to go tonight.

I see I touched a nerve, which the truth can often do. Mayfield plays for state championships, which last I checked don't require an undefeated season. Since you didn't beat your county rival, look at the Mustangs schedule... where does your signature win come from? Hendo, Daviess... nope. I think you just saw it, it was Mayfield. No worries though, we're generally everyone's resume builder.

McCracken really looked like the freshest team at the end of the game. We wore Bright into the ground, run after run and then playing defense. We've got the depth to give him a spell. Mccracken split the carries among 3 backs plus Jones running the read option from the QB. Game could have gone either way, just hate to see the 49 game home winning streak end. Mayfield will keep their eye on the big prize in December. Mustangs will focus on winning a playoff game or two, as this will probably be the highlight of their season.

Maybe I'M just old, but I have never seen a team watch video of the game on the sidelines at the high school level.

Mayfield has beaten a 1-2 PT. An 0-2 Marshall. An 0-3 Ft.Campbell. It could be argued that Mayfield has played only an average Tilghman team and no one else. For what it's worth, I think PT loses again this week. Saying McCracken is just not any good is probably an overstatement at this point in the season. In fact, I dare say they would win a rematch with PT if it happened today.

Cards still need to cut down on some of these silly penalties, and I can't imagine another week with 3 turnovers deep in their own territory. Should be a great crowd for the home opener, considering the last 2 games between these two. 2014 game was the most points Mayfield gave up in a game, so the Mustangs will score, but not nearly enough. 41 - 28, the home winning streak continues.

Touch sledding for Murray next game out too. I thought if Murray would lose early in the season it would be to Hopkinsville

I think the word "IF" should be emphasized in the thread title. I can totally see Murray losing one of the next two. This week would be an upset if they lost, next week maybe not so much.

Couple of things. Looks like offense will finally get in 4 quarters of action, with that in mind could be a pretty high scoring affair again for the Cardinals. Quality of opponent will keep it somewhat in check. Defense will need to keep the penalties down, don't need to give PT free first downs by jumping. Tilghman would like nothing more to keep this close in the 2ND half and try to grind clock like they did against McCracken . I'LL take Mayfield 35-17.

I think the number of penalties gave this game the "look" it did. Better this week than next. Maybe I'm crazy, but it seems we could run the same 4 or 5 plays every game and still beat most teams handily. When the offense is clicking and we get guys out in space no one, yet, has been able to slow us down.

Unless Warren Central has been relocated, this is a 2 and half hour trip to Marquette Stadium. I too like Warren Central to win a close game... 7 to 10 points. Mustangs need to find some offense and I don't think it will happen this week.

Mustangs have a lot of work to do.

Other than a couple of passes that went right through the receiver's hands, I don't have any problems with what I saw on the field last night. It will be another solid Mayfield team. I like the way Bright has bulked up, he's becoming more of a true football player with strength, speed and better moves up the field. Seems to me we are faster in more positions this year. This is going to give a lot of teams fits, as it always does. Good tackling too, it seems there have been some times over the last couple of years where we had gotten into too much arm tackling. There were some nice licks laid last night. Considering Milan already had a scrimmage under their belt this year, and to one of the best teams in Tennessee, I think the Cards held their own and then some. If I had to give them a grade, I'd say A-

Arnett missed open receivers, up the seam, he always seemed to hit during the season + the Jackets played to some of our weaknesses like no one else had done all season. Execution, I'd take Williamsburg. Better overall players to Beechwood. Put 'em together and you have a way to beat Mayfield.

Just one point of clarification, if someone could humor me. Didn't Williamsburg's first touchdown come in the red zone? I thought the QB ran the bootleg for like a 12 yard touchdown run.

Feels like the Murray/Mayfield game. Mayfield came out real slow as Murray controlled the line and clock in a rush heavy attack. Mayfield adjusted and won by 11. 21 to 10. If Mayfield doesn't over pursue, the QB sacks are going to start adding up. Speaking of mythical championships. I guess Murray/DeSales was the real 2A championship.
