  1. Who can forget the 55 LCA dropped on Mayfield in the 2009 state championship
  2. Maybe go back and give the Owensboro score a second look. That was a game the Red Devils could have certainly won.
  3. Despite some of the polls, here and otherwise, the RPI is the one that got it right again this season. #1 vs #2 for the 2A state championship.
  4. Which just proves they were overrated. Rankings are fun and all, but they are just someone's opinion and they've never won any team a playoff game. In a state where everyone makes the playoff, one of those Beechwood opponents made a first round playoff appearance, the other second round. 🤷‍♂️
  5. And maybe the scoreboard on Friday. The old saying, of course, is defense wins championships. I just can't overlook the fact that the Beechies gave up over 40 to one middle of the pack team and over 50 to another average team, fortunate to win them both. Great teams don't do this. Yes defense has been lights out since then, but they haven't played anyone either. Mayfield 52 Beechwood 35
  6. Rain total will be negligible (<.25") and long gone by 7:30 kickoff. Ground is dry and what little that falls will be soaked up. Field conditions are not an issue.
  7. Of these 3 playoff teams to travel to Mayfield, which is the best of those. The current LCA team, the '17 CAL team or the '15 DeSales squad.
  8. They haven't. 40 point loss to Madisonville and 4th quarter scores to beat Ft. Campbell just to even have another crack at Mayfield. Maybe tell us how good Ft. Campbell is since they only lost to the much improved Tigers by two TDs. Murray still lost to Mayfield and never had a chance once they fell behind. Can't play "chew the clock" when you're losing the game. Right strategy, but only 2 quarters of execution.
  9. Only question here is do we get another 70+ scoring barrage from the PT O. It's getting to be habitual. Next week is when it gets a lot more challenging.
  10. This is wrong in so many ways. It won't be close, Murray hasn't improved , 1-1 since their last meeting vs Mayfield just 3 weeks ago, (blown out by MNHopkins and outlasting an average Ft. Campbell ballclub) and Mayfield plays one game at a time - the coaches make sure of it. Besides Murray is beat up at the end of the season and won't even be full strength for this game.
  11. Hard to feel bad for Beechwood win they get a free pass to the semi finals every year.
  12. 😆Jordan Miles is his alternate ego because that's the Christian QB
  13. I wonder what the nfhs and Christian Co think about the visitors putting this out there for free.
  14. A lot of JV football to be seen the next 2, probably 3 weeks. Then it gets real, real fast.
  15. McCracken's effort against Daviess Co. left a lot to be desired. Graves is peaking at the right time. Eagles by 3 scores. 35-14
  16. VOR, what is the variable that is plugged in for playing up in class?
  17. Mayfield's two young running backs, one a freshman - one a sophomore, picked up big chunks of rushing yards leading to the Cardinals victory. Way too many penalties on both sides.
  18. Verizon in Paducah has 5 G in selected areas of town. And my reasoning above has already been confirmed to me by someone within the Paducah school district.
  19. Internet connectivity came back, full strength, in the stadium at halftime. I suspect PT puts a damper on their campus for students trying to use their phones at schools. I know other districts do this. I think someone at PT recognized this and flipped a switch. It was the difference between night and day once that occured.
  20. Mayfield lived on the Tilghman side of the field in the second half and wiped out a two TD deficit, but couldn't get the stop on defense or a conversion on offense when they needed it most. And how many 15 yard penalties did PT have again this week, 6 or 7 , that's gotta stop. Instead of breaking a 17 game Mayfield winning streak, I prefer to say that Mayfield is 17-1 against PT in the last 18 meetings.
  21. First home game of the year. Their teacher is an Emmy award winning photojournalist, they'll continue to get better.
  22. With this being the first year of home and home series with most clubs, Mayfield will lose another game with the consolidation of H'Town/Christian Co. putting us down to 8. I see no way to fix this but to get a week two bowl game in 2024.
  23. Disagree. McCracken is breaking in a new QB after losing a quality 3 year starter. I saw nothing against PT that makes me think they are "much better".
  24. 10 to 1 in first downs in the first half favoring Graves Co. 3 Eagle interceptions kept them out of the end zone until they hit paydirt in the 3rd quarter. Will be interested in what Graves looks like against PT next week.
  25. The 2023 Football season kicks off Thursday 8/17 at 7:00 when NCC visits Lloyd Memorial. You can watch the inaugural game on Lloyd's new field turf on (859) Sports Radio with Mark Wehry, Kevin Connor and Bill Bartlett! This will be the only game being played in the state that day!!
