  1. Three of the Mayfield turnovers turned into three of the McCracken touchdowns. Two of those three on a short field. That's a no no.
  2. I thought this was a great proposal when you originally introduced it. A playoff system with common sense, I hope the powers that be take a hard look at this again before we shuffle all 6 decks in the future.
  3. I don't see that let down this week for Mayfield. This game, like the last two years, falls between PT and Graves. Considering they came out on fire in this game last year, only to tire in the fourth quarter, I don't see any hangover from this group. I see Mayfield jumping out quickly and just pulling away gradually. As far as Graves is concerned, they will always talk no matter how good or bad they are. Just part of the cross town showdown.
  4. Don't think anyone will be holding their breath as this year's game comes to a close. This one should leave little doubt. 56-22 MAY
  5. This has become trivial at this point. Rereading the post doesn't change anything, but thanks for admiring Mayfield football from afar.
  6. Also, kudos to the kicking game. Making big strides since the summer. First two fields goals of the season and pinning them at their own 3 on the kickoff.
  7. So saying this team is a better version than others makes us all pessimist in other years. Plus, you need to do some more homework if you think 2A football is the same beast as what we conquered in 1A
  8. I doubt you'd really get it unless you SEE every game, every year.
  9. I haven't weighed in so far this season, but this Mayfiield team is really, really good... IMO better than last. Last season I thought the defense was down a notch. I even mentioned after last year's scrimmage there were a few defense things that need tweaking, some were over the course of the season... some were not. I can't, for the life of me, come up with anything that this team , on either side of the ball, needs to make any big adjustments. This group has come out of the gate at a high level. And like many Mayfield fans, I have seen plenty of MHS football in my time.
  10. Losing Ft. Campbell and Marshall Co. And replacing them with Union City and Hopkins ville will certainly be a big step up to start the season. I'd love to win them both, but I would not be too down though if we went 1 and 1 or 0 and 2, as long as we play smart and hard throughout.
  11. Few pre season thoughts While you can't argue the insane, record setting numbers Arnett put up. I like the return to a taller QB, which should lead to fewer of the tipped or knocked down passes at the line. With a seasoned OL line, either QB should be able to thrive in the pocket. Really want to see what the defense brings this year, there were a few teams that had success in moving the ball against our usually stingy defense. Looking for big breakout year from Q Cherry. Love his size and strength on the end.
  12. Unless a new thread pops up called "New McCracken football coach: Joe Morris", I am done posting until the summer. My final thoughts. Not happening. My guess is he turned it down at 3 o'clock today. PS: love my wife and her job
  13. I'm in the wrong job. I'd love to retire at the ripe old age of 50, or has he reached 51 already
  14. Not to beat this horse anymore, especially in a thread dedicated to Cal's championship, but... Beechwood may play privates, but none stand in their path to a championship, at least not currently. Talent focused in Louisville is MUCH better than what's spread out in northern Kentucky. Kids know and parents are figuring out that "junior" can play in Louisville 2A and start as a sophomore instead of backing up for a couple of years at Louisville 6A. I mean you can only put 11 on the field at a time, why be one of 89 waiting on the sideline at T or X when you can get on the field right away at DeS or Cal. And let's face it, football talent in the privates is loaded in 2A and 6A. By the way, congrats CAL. My final 2A top 5... CAL DeSales Danville Mayfield Covington HC
  15. Just giving you insight on the Operational Euro.
  16. Never being able to flip the field off our punts and forced to go for it on 4th down deep in our own territory made the final score less respectable then it could have been.
  17. Still a range of possibilities for Sunday rain... from light showers to a steady soaking depending on your model of choice. Either way, 2A and 5A fans should pack their rain gear.
  18. But if the weather is bad , you'd better get to the stadium club early. Those coaches fill up the window seats in a hurry.
  19. With CAL and DeSales in the 2A west, the chance of Mayfield ever 4 peating again is.... slim to none???
