The Undefeated Aces of Owensboro Catholic host the 7-5 Monroe County Falcons. The Falcons have ripped off 6 wins in a row, all in 2A regular play and the first two rounds of the playoffs. Their offense has been rolling as they have score 29 or more in all of those wins.

Owensboro Catholic has really only been tested once and that was a game against Owensboro where they still won by double digits. Though they have fought through various injuries, nothing has slowed the Aces. Brady Atwell looks to continue his impressive season as it still seems Owensboro Catholic will have a relatively easy time getting through to the title game, including this week against Monroe County.

  • Guess they are trying to still work out the bugs being new and all. Even the announcers knew they were having issues.

  • Yes, I watched every snap of that second half. Awesome game and Owensboro gave the Aces a serious scare for sure. Certainly some blueprint ideas opponents of the Aces can draw from that game.

If Catholic is healthy they get a running clock in 2nd qtr. If they are not it doesn't matter they will get it before halftime anyway.  Catholic 56- Monroe 7 My Devils are done so I may

I said this about a month ago. Running clocks til the state championship game.

Ocath is walking to the State Championship without a doubt. They are an exciting team to watch!

It’s been a good season for Monroe, I will leave it at that.

Once again, the number one seed has an easy road to the finals while the other top contenders beat up on each other.

That didn't help them win it last year...Mayfield was better and more battle tested but this year they are better than everyone else again with Beechwood being a close 2nd then LCA and Mayfield next...

I have nothing against the fine folks from Monroe County, and they have had a good season to get here. But all Aces in this one.

Nothing profound or earth shattering in O Cath having running clocks in the playoffs. Guess who else has posted running clocks? Beechwood, Mayfield and Lex Christian. Beechwood will having a running clock this week. If Mayfield and LCA weren't playing each other, they would likely win with running clock. It's a four team race and any of those four can win it. O Cath has the top seed so they will be able to avoid the other three till the title game, so a running clock in the semifinals most likely. In the title game, it is up for grabs.

OC is the benefactor of having the Top RPI and having 3 of the Best 4 teams in the West. Beechwood is benefactor of being in the East. If they didn’t have it broken up by East/West in Round 3 you would see some incredible Semi Finals as 2A is clearly a 4 team class. With this years results so far you would likely put Mayfield as the 4th but with them hosting at War Memorial throw that out the window.

That's what I said a month ago and you would of thought I was insane. Yes, I know #1 seed will have a smooth road to the finals.

Very interesting game this week with Mayfield and LCA.

RPI is kinda subjective. And if they were still doing East/West and maybe Mayfield would be hosting maybe not. I do know OC and Mayfield would have met before the finals.

This isn't directed at you @snakesnot_2000 because I know you know it but others may not. If we still used geography only and it is an even numbered year, this week's schedule would be:

  • Mayfield at Owensboro Catholic
  • Monroe County at Lexington Christian

  • Beechwood at Somerset
  • Prestonsburg at Martin County

So really no matter how it is sliced, you'd have one team with a relatively easy route to the finals and the other three in an absolute dogfight.
