  1. As far as preseason #1, I wouldn’t even come close to that. If OC keeps their qb, big if, they are #1. If they don’t, Beechwood is #1. I do think Mayfield will reach the semis again. However, that has a lot to do with the RPI. I suspect the Cards will lose at least a couple of their first five games. That could really hurt in the RPI.
  2. I listened to the Homers Radio Show after this game. The comment was made about this very play and how our db mugged the OC receiver and the refs didn’t call it. I thought I saw the OC wr grab Kirby by the facemask and pull him out of bounds because he was in better position to catch the ball.
  3. That game don’t count. It’s best left out of the memory back. We just were state runners up that year. No score.
  4. We obviously should be down some. However, We return a lot of talent and our freshmen linemen are huge. The approach may change a bit but, they will still be contenders. We hardly ever miss the semifinals.
  5. I forgot about that game. I was there. Thank you. Just slipped my mind. Thanks for bringing up bad memories. I’m gonna have nightmares tonight.
  6. Whew, I am tired. I knew I needed to be in peak physical condition if we wanted to win this game.
  7. I have watched almost every game since 1995. Your question got me to thinking. I think it would have been in 2007 or so when Ft Campbell had a good program. No one wanted to play them in the bowl game at Marshall County and Coach Joe spoke and said we would. We were tied or real close to tied at halftime. In the second half they came out at put at running clock on us. That was when it took at least a 42 point lead to get a running clock.
  8. Exciting game. MHS could use a slow time consuming touchdown drive as soon as second half starts.
  9. I’m not expecting anyone cowering. We want their best. However, I guarantee you that you would never hear Coach Joe Morris or any of his players get on any sports radio or television show and guarantee they were gonna win. Me on the other hand, yeah I might. Because, as everyone will tell you, I am forever the optimist. Plus, I seen enough of this over the years that I know in most cases when I hang my hat on the Cards, they win
  10. After listening to that show, I’m scared to show up. They are gonna have the biggest crowd of any team at state by 6 times. They have the best qb in the state Atwell. They have the best lb in the state Vince Carrico. They also have the best player in the state Tutt Carrico. They all told us there isn’t any chance of Mayfield winning. So, why even get up and drive 4 plus hours to watch? If it rains, they are just going to run all over us. Juju is only good at stretch plays, they can shut him down by making him cut it back to the middle. Cartwright is only slightly better at qb than the Owensboro qb.
  11. As was Combs. If memory serves me correct, that year he led 2a in passing and was a large portion of their run game. He had a slew of receivers and a very good rb.
  12. The last time the Cards went into the state championships against an undefeated team that had a running qb and was favored, that I can remember was 2010. It didn’t go well for Hazard that day.
  13. We only beat the Ads one time, 2002 at their place in the semis enroute to a state championship. Back on topic though. Even though OC outscored Hendo by 6 more than the Cards did, the difference in yardage was exactly the same. Had MHS not knelt on the ball at the end, they could have outscored them by more and would surely have outgained them by more.
  14. Another thing that could be addressed is that it has been pointed out just how many yards MHS has given up in the three toughest games of the year. The same person that brought that up admitted that OC’s toughest three were not as tough. With that being said in those 3 OC gave up 303, 355 and 394 in those 3 games. If MHS has that kind of success, I like our chances.
  15. Alright, to the point of yardage given up and Henderson County giving MHS a game, here’s some facts for you: OC passing 446 yards, run 52 yards, total 498 Henderson Co passing 149 yards, run 206 yards, total 355 MHS passing 165 yards, run 236, total 401 Henderson Co passing 125 yards, run 133, total 258 Now that is amazing in the fact that both teams outgained Henderson by 143 yards. Not to mention MHS did this after the almost 2 hour drive to Henderson and OC did it at home.
  16. Is he gone from the team? Is this a mistake? Is this an old roster they will certainly change before the game?
  17. So, I guess no one can share some insight as to why OC left #9 off their roster when he clearly starts for offense and defense?
  18. When you point out the RPI, the thing that pops out to me is North Hardin. North Hardin is much lower in RPI than McCracken County. McCracken also made it to round three. Mayfield put a running clock on McCracken. However, North Hardin moved the ball real well on OC and would have had a barn burner if they would just not fumble the ball away so much.
  19. I’m hoping someone can help me out with this. I noticed both teams have turned in their rosters to KHSAA for the championship. They have not yet turned in their probable starters two deep chart. My question is, how can OC leave #9 off the rosters when he obviously starts on offense and defense?
  20. Here is how it stacks up so you can get an idea of what I mean. 1). Mayfield 49.5 points per game 2). OC. 48 points per game 3). Beechwood. 47.5 points per game 4). LCA. 46 points per game. yardage: 1) OC. 5942 on year 2) LCA. 5483 on year 3) Beechwood 5,409 on year 4) Mayfield. 4967 on year So where does Mayfield make up the points?
  21. You are totally missing the point. It was not necessarily the offense. The defense scored or set up a lot of those scores. Look at the yardage numbers overall versus the yardage overall for offense by LCA, Beechwood or OC. You will see that Mayfield’s numbers appear skewed because they are scoring with or better than those teams and have a lot less yardage. That is because of the way the defense sets them up. For instance the LCA game changed on 2 pick 6’s and another pick. The defense in today’s world allows movement but capitalizes on mistakes. You see that from the NFL down. It’s a change brought on by the spread offenses and great running qb’s.
