  1. Is the Mayfield game the only game this year in which PT didn’t get a running clock?
  2. It won’t be a four quarter battle. Corbin will hang for the first half. I’m gonna be able to attend this one.
  3. I don’t think having a different qb would change anything. We got out physicalled last night, period. Our boys need to let that burn every day from now until next year at this time. They need to put in the hours in the weight room. I agree that our offense needs an evolution. I think we also need some team building exercises ( get together). Back in the years that we went four years in a row as the champs, our boys knew and liked each other so much that the other player was an extension of their body. I don’t feel that now. I can give you an example, I asked my son once why another player didn’t cover the play a certain way. He told me that he didn’t know, that was that players job and my son had his own job. He knew he didn’t have to worry once the play got to a certain point on the field because his brother would handle it. They fit together like a glove. That’s what we need to foster. It starts at home. Get the boys together as much as possible. They will become one.
  4. Who would have picked the defending 1a, 2a and 4a champs to go down on the same night, in the regionals none the less?
  5. I’m not sure how many yards they will get. My guess is, they will do fine running in the first quarter. Once Mayfield figures out their keys, that will stop. They rely upon their big line, which they should. However, MHS has the big athletic defensive line to match it. They are running straight into the strength of Mayfield. You know this. That’s why your Tigers have balanced their offense over the years. 70/30 won’t cut it. They have to be more 50/50 to beat the Cards.
  6. What happened when Hensley ran for 270 yards? That was with a better passing attack than this years team. PT is a different animal. They are very balanced. We had to dedicate so much time to the 4 star receiver and their passing attack. I’ve seen a lot of teams try to win by running, I’ve seen a lot fail.
  7. Mayfield has and always has had stout run defense. We are better geared to stop the run. I don’t recall a team running the ball on Mayfield with great success in all the years I have been watching. If you remember back just a few years ago, Union City was a running team (threw the ball maybe 3 times per game) and were destroying teams for I think a four year run of state titles. They played Mayfield and got blanked on their field. It’s not gonna work.
  8. After watching the Eagles, I feel a lot less apprehensive. I think it’s gonna be a long drive home for LCA. They won’t run the ball too well on the Cards. They can’t match the speed either. I will take the Cards by 3-4 scores.
  9. As far as preseason #1, I wouldn’t even come close to that. If OC keeps their qb, big if, they are #1. If they don’t, Beechwood is #1. I do think Mayfield will reach the semis again. However, that has a lot to do with the RPI. I suspect the Cards will lose at least a couple of their first five games. That could really hurt in the RPI.
  10. I listened to the Homers Radio Show after this game. The comment was made about this very play and how our db mugged the OC receiver and the refs didn’t call it. I thought I saw the OC wr grab Kirby by the facemask and pull him out of bounds because he was in better position to catch the ball.
  11. That game don’t count. It’s best left out of the memory back. We just were state runners up that year. No score.
