Caldwell County goes on the road for round number two of the 2A playoffs, and they know the address very well as they will face the Mayfield Cardinals at War Memorial Stadium. 

Both teams are coming off convincing wins in the first round, and this sets up a rematch of their regular season game in which Mayfield won 47-14 back on October 4th. Has anything changed since then?

It is worth mentioning that since that game on Oct. 4, Mayfield has lost two big defensive weapons due to injury. One more thing, Caldwell has really found something offensively as they put up 54 pts on Trigg two weeks ago, and 51 against Fort Campbell last Friday. Are these things enough to reverse the first outcome? Tell us what you think.

We haven't heard a definite word on him for this game yet.

What has Caldwell switched on their offense?  The most recent scores indicates they are really lighting it up.  If they have switched to the spread, how is Mayfield's secondary.  What is the one weakness that Mayfield has on D that gives Caldwell a chance?

 

Caldwell did spread it out in their previous matchup with Mayfield.  They just don't have the horses.  I was pleasantly surprised with their QB.  Good mobility and a nice arm.  He looked to be all they had though.

I know Caldwell thinks they left some points on the field in the first matchup, driving into Mayfield territory on a handful occasions. Mayfield defense has come up big when teams are in a position to score over the last several weeks. Cardinals are mixing it up a little more now on  D and that should give an improving Tigers team a little more to think about. Cardinals will win, but perhaps not quite as comfortably as the first time. 41-21

Tigers are playing better as of late, Lander looking good.  Cards win but game is closer than the home team would want.

Do we really think Caldwell improved or not is going to give Mayfield a game? Mayfield just don't  need to look past them and onto probable LCA otherwise Mayfield will be fine and wouldn't be suprised to see a running clock...
