  1. Just looking for Mayfield to pick up where they left off in the scrimmage... scoring early and often. Would expect significant amounts of playing time for the JV squad the next 2 weeks. Mayfield by 40
  2. Milan lost their final scrimmage to another strong small school in Dresden and their Mr.Football candidate Dresser Winn, 22 to 14. Becoming more impressed by Mayfield's 6 TD's
  3. I know he will need to earn his time, but I would like to see Cherry take Hernandez spot when Arnett goes under center and we run from the two end power set. That kid is big and a bruiser. He was a load for Milan during the JV portion. I believe he could be a difference maker when he gets older. Anyone?
  4. Mayfield: 6 to 4 varsity in roughly 3 to 4 quarters Milan: 2 to 1 in JV in roughly 2 quarters Total scrimmage went about 3 hours
  5. High octane offense in the works for Mayfield this season. 6 touchdowns in the first 7 possession for the varsity. Milan has another group of big boys this year. Reminded of DeSales in that aspect, they will be tough for any team in Tennessee. Kicking game for Mayfield is certainly a work in progress, but that was expected.
  6. I would reserve A+ for a team that runs the table, but this club certainly can be proud of their achievements... solid A.
  7. It appears that by 2049 the Cardinal will have mutated into a bird that more resembles a Falcon, if the uniforms are any indication, but this can easily be explained by global warming.
  8. Yeah, yeah a parody, but its also Mayfield where football never sleeps. You should know that better than anyone.
  9. Someone please answer me this before I hang it up for the season. Since the punt only hit the NCC return man in the helmet and never touched his hands, that is considered a muffed punt? And if the same thing happens and it is a NCC blocker down field and the ball hits him in the helmet, is the call the same? Thanks in advance
  10. After seeing a close up, I'm still not sure what the kid was doing there. That is a ball you've got to get away from. Never even touched his hands, the ball looked like a dog that jumped up and bit him. Square in the facemask and right into the end zone.
  11. We (Mayfield) said this team is not full of athletes. This is not the first or last year an undersized Mayfield team will win a championship. We do the most with what is in our little town of 8,000.
  12. Always looked forward to reading his thoughts in the Paducah Sun. More days than not during football season he'd add a little something about games coming up on Friday nights, always something that would help the week go by faster by keeping the football talk going, in the days before BGP. Now you're lucky to get a small preview on Friday and a short, generic story on Saturday morning.
  13. Tony Brown would come out of the backfield like a tiger coming out of his cage. He would look for someone to steamroll once he got beyond the line of scrimmage.
  14. First time Mayfield played Hazard and Williamsburg the game was basically over before it started. Second time around it was a different game all together. I'm concerned , as a Mayfield fan, that with NCC being here multiple times that there won't be a WOW factor for Mayfield to lean on. I expect this to be close going into the 4TH. 24 TO 14 Mayfield.
  15. Maybe go with that catfish and pups at Toot's
  16. There is more needed than just being fundamentally sound and having the heart of a champion to being successful at the next level. Less star power and more of a "I'm working for the guy next to me " attitude is not a bad thing.
  17. Watching both my schools this weekend... WKU and Mayfield, with plenty of Double Dogs and pool time mixed in.
  18. With the last 2 games bringing huge, well warrented hype (see the the length of the DeSales and OC threads), I could conceive a small emotional let down in this game - at least for a quarter or two. No worries though, Mayfield is built for the comeback if they are put in that position. However, if Mayfield is hitting early and grabs a couple quick touchdowns, this one is over... done... finished. Unless the Cards have a few of their best athletes beat up, which they don't, I can't see a scenario where they lose here.
  19. It is funny how once teams actually play Mayfield they find out that maybe they aren't as great as once perceived. Seems every few years a new team or two find that out in an up close and personal basis. That's OK, it always makes for great banter leading up to a game.
  20. Whatever "IT" is, Mayfield has "IT". Another spectacular job by one of the top coaching staffs in Kentucky for those halftime adjustments . This was still a game until the onside kick went out of bounds, gotta give your guys at least a chance to recover that ball, instead it spun like a top and went straight out of bounds. The Memorial mystique for opposing teams continues...
