  1. Considering Manual doesn't know what a road trip is, not leaving the metro in the last 2 years, I look for McCracken to jump out early with Manual left to play catch up for most of the game. McCracken 24 to 21.
  2. Yep, I think it just a receiver in the area not the box
  3. Bacon is as sure handed as they come. If it's in his vicinity, he'll bring it in. I'm sure they've told Arnett not to take the big loss, but 2 intentional grounding penalties isn't any better. Get outside of the tackle or find a receiver in the area.
  4. Tiger fans, what gives. Did Caldwell just run into a buzz saw tonight or did the Tigers just not play motivated. Sindelar played OK, but this was not the guy that slices and dices up secondaries. Several dropped passes by his receivers did not help him. Did Caldwell have any starters not play tonight? The way OCath throws the ball around, Tigers may exit the playoffs sooner rather than later again this year.
  5. My prediction is that if Somerset wins a game this year it will because the other team sat out key players, had injuries or coaches were not really trying to win due to focus on upcoming basketball season. :sarcastic:
  6. Graves Co. has finally put the right players in the right spots and are rolling. Unranked beating number #2 5A is a decent possibility in a few weeks. Guessing they are just beyond the top 10.
  7. Run defense is the most solid portion of this Mayfield team. Now, for the first time since early in the season, Mayfield will find itself facing a squad that can pass and do it effectively... much more so than McCracken. You only have to go back to last Friday night when the WR for RVille dropped passes in the end zone on both 3rd and 4th down. I just don't like the matchups with Caldwell's taller receiver. I hope they can prove me wrong. If they can pull this game out, I will feel good about this defense carrying them to another state championship.
  8. I think the home winning streak ends with this game. Caldwell is just as good as last year, and despite the record, Mayfield is not. Sindelar will do it through the air and, when need be, with his feet taking off for his yards. Mayfield's only chance is to do what Murray does... pound the ball, move the chains and limit Caldwell posessions. I see the Tigers by a couple of scores. 42 to 28.
  9. Still dealing with some of the same issues that date back to Milan and some of the earlier weeks. Thought they might have ironed these things out over the last month. Russellville is banging on the door, and will likely have one final chance to knock it down in a few weeks.
  10. Russellville will use 3 guys to pound and ground out the run, as they pass very sparingly. This game may have the excitement of the Murray game, but with the Panthers not able to keep the chains moving like Murray did. Mayfield's run D is very solid right now and I would expect maybe a touchdown from Russellville, but not much more. Expecting a low scoring game, 24 to 8 or 28 to 8.
  11. Graves finally settled on a QB, former Mayfield player Reed, and are now getting some passing production, giving defenses something to worry about other than Crider at running back. I would think the winner of Hoptown/Graves Co. could crack the top 10 next week. Both teams have won 4 in a row.
  12. Finally, some meaningful football returns next week.
  13. 7 Warren East 5 Caldwell County 3 Graves County 2 Edmonson County 1 Clay County TB Caldwell County
  14. 7 paducah tilghman 5 owensboro cath 3 rockcastle 2 green co 1 red boiling springs Tie breaker... paducah tilghman
  15. Thank goodness we had that "What's wrong with Beechwood" thread early in the season.
  16. I'm sure Pikeville will take note of your "new options". At Mayfield, we don't need to reinvent the wheel, it's been rolling just fine for over 100 years.
  17. 7 Franklin Simpson 5 Madisonville 3 Greenwood 2 Owensboro 1 Marshall County TB: Madisonville
  18. 405 yards of total offense for Mayfield to 92 for Marshall. Other than an early 3rd quarter TD by the starters, JV squad played most of the 2nd half.
  19. While still a couple of tough games on the schedule, Mayfield will have the next month (Marshall, 2 Fultons, and open) to work on the offensive side of the ball. If they don't look better by Russellville, they probably won't. It's hard not to compare this team to the last several, and I think the gap is much closer in 1A; however, as I felt at the beginning of the season, I don't know if another team in 1A can get over that hump and pass them by. I will enjoy watching how 2 through 10 shakes down though over the next several weeks, but Mayfield won't go anywhere with the teams they play before travelling to R'Ville.
  20. 7 McLean County 5 Owensboro 3 Franklin Simpson 2 Hopkinsville 1 Paducah Tilghman TB... Hopkinsville
  21. First of all, several personal foul penalties on SH in the 2nd half gave McCracken the opportunity to stick around. One of those crucial on the final drive. However, McCracken did tackle much, much better after halftime, which was a huge reason the Chargers only managed 7pts after half. VERY entertaining game to watch. A late and long ride back to Mississippi for SouthHaven.
  22. Mayfield finished with 120 yards of total offense for the night. When is the last time that has happened? And how is it a Graves County grad is the lead official for this game?
  23. Safe to say that 1A just got considerably more interesting after tonight's games.
