Paducah Tilghman 21 McCracken County 7

Featured Replies

PT dominated the ground game, kept the chains moving and devoured the clock from the 2nd quarter on.

Defensively they made stops when they needed and kept MCs offense off the field.

Again 3-A is loaded this season.

LOADED.

Isn't McCracken a top 10 6A school?

I was wondering the same. Is all well at McCracken, is RT really on top of their game, or what's up?

Of all the games I followed this weekend, I think I missed this game the most. I said McCracken would win in a close game. From the way it sounds, it really wasn't REAL close and 3A PT ran it on 6A MC. Scratching my head on it. Looks like Hughes and Jones were nuetralized pretty easily by PT. Is it PTs year in the West bracket of 3A?

Tilghman played a solid, mostly mistake-free, disciplined game. Dunigan looked like the senior quarterback he is. He was very elusive, twice turning possible sacks into gains. Tilghman was clearly better than McCracken, but really was about as expected. No surprises.

McCracken? The Mustangs looked out of synch all night, misfiring on offense and committing too many penalties. They seemed to go to Hughes too much, as he had a few nice runs but also a couple of drops. No offense to Tilghman's defense, but McCracken really stopped itself all night. They were not a Top 10 6A team Saturday.

Mustangs have a lot of work to do.

They are really good at wardrobe changes

Last year, PT had issues in the trenches as they were pretty small and young. Those guys are a year older, more mature, bigger and more experienced this year. The skill kids were there last year. In addition, they were learning a whole new system under a new coaching staff. I'm sure they're more comfortable this year and it sounds like they're more disciplined, which was always an issue under the prior regime. In PTs heyday, they relied on beating teams to the edge on offense and explosive plays and then a fast, swarming defense. Sounds like they're getting back to there roots. Not a good sign for opposing teams.

Isn't this the first year for the Mc HC? Didn't the incumbent just retire?

The time of possession virtually tells the story of the game. PT was able to control the line of scrimmage in the 2nd half highlighted by the opening drive which took 6 and half minutes off the clock and gave PT their 1st lead. McCracken never looked comfortable on offense missed a couple of opportunities that would have lead to scores. PT's senior leadership definitely made a difference in the game in my opinion. Would love to see penalty yardage breakdown for this game. PT played an almost flawless game while McCracken shot themselves in the foot over an over again with false starts, holds, and personal fouls. PT will be a tough out in the playoffs, hopefully the Mustangs can develop some offensive rhythm over the next couple of weeks.
