I say let the kid play some football. He's been practicing, playing, and going to camps for 8-10 years now for what? So he can sit on the sidelines and watch someone else play on his senior night? At least let him play 1/2 to 3/4 of the game.

For most teams there is a chance to play 8 more games this year, and at least the last 3 should be competive. With less than half the season being played, and lots of lopsided games some players may look like Mr. Football. I look for Towles, and Hightchew to both be playing in the championships where Mr. Football should be selected, with most of the other canidates eliminated along the way.

Good programs attrach good players. I don't think I am nieve in my opinion that parents will steer thier young players to a better program if they think that it will improve their child. In No.Ky. teams like Beechwood, Highlands, CovCath, and NCC all provide an excellent academic programs for the players (no knock on any other school's academics) but also insures that your child will be playing with other players that are able, and willing to put the extra effort into improving. Better competion in practice makes for better players on Friday night. Attracting a few good players can elevate a team from good to great. Pull a few players from any of the teams above , and you might just have a good team. NCC played last night with at least 4 starters out, and despite the final score, looked very beatable.

From a competition standpoint, (considering that compition is good for your teem) both teems would have benifited more from playing each other than the last game they played or the next two games. Though the district games are a necessity. Wanting them to play though is kind of like me wanting a date with Angela Jolie, it just probably wouldn't work out for either one of us.

Well Brady does "by far" have the highest completion percentage (especially including last year), and "by far" the highest quarterback rating in not only No. Ky., but in most of the state of Kentucky. However that being said I would rather try tackle him than the 6' 5" 250 lb. QB's he is compaired to. I think that the by far part might have been a result of the emotion carryover from the end of the Holmes game, when one of his kids left in an ambulance with a head/neck injury the second last play of the game.

Losing one of the best linbacking coures in No. Ky., the schools all time interception leader, and Jake & Jack off the line, as everyone is saying will be a hard task. Coach Eviston & crew will surely be tested. Returning bookend tackels/DE Martin, and Morse @ 6'3" 235 lb should anchor a very quick line with the best center I've seen play in years, Brady Thacker. They won't be able to replace Chris Kelly, and Jake Cain in the backfield, but Dylan Hayes has added a few pounds, and will be complimented by some of the other up and coming backs. I think that the highest rated(by QB rating formula) QB in NO. KY. , and one of highest in the state could improve on his 71% as long as Nick Wolterman stays healthy and has a little help. As well as his passing skills are, Brady Hightchew may be a tough target for NCC opponents to bring down. Good Luck to the 2011 NCC Thoroughbreds.

A lot of the kids on the court have been playing against each other for years now, and because they can't play with their cell phones now and text they actully have to comunicate by mouth.

I think Parker Stansberry hurt NCC more than any other Dixie player. He was a hugh influence on offence, and defence. Hatton's heroics in the OTs earned him the mvp.IMO. Dixie in 2012 = WOW

Not as a rule, but for this year the 9th reg POY should be one of the players playing in the finals. All the others have had their chance. Besides Geisler, and Hatton who started the year as canidates, Pike, Trammel, and Hightchew deserve consideration. Big time players have big time games in big games, and this may be the biggest game any of these players have ever played in so far in their lives.

I looked for a 2011 9th region POY thread and this is as close as I could find. While the 9th Region Finals are tomorrow, and all the big men have had their say, does everyone still believe that it is the year of the big men. What player can control a game more than any other in the 9th. Can it be a gaurd or a forward?

Ryle played very,very aggresive in all facets. of the game, including getting 2 T's. The foul disparity could have been double.

I guess now we can go to any athletic event, and post a thread about the most negative statement or action we see then sterotype the whole school and fan base that way. The terible statement by this person in no way represents the Newport Catholic Athletic teem, it's coaching staff, the parents, the student body, or the fan base, no more than many of the terrible statements, jestures, and actions made againt the NCC teems over the last couple years represent the teems they were playing. The person making the statement you mention, should have been taken out behind the gym and wiped. The statement you made on here connecting them to NCC should not have been made. By the way did you have any scores from the NCC teem?

Is it a big surprise that if you take one of, or the best player off a teem that they will not be as good as if he were playing? What teem would be just as good without thier star?

So that would be about 28 min. and 11 shots for Hightchew. Watching the first few posestions on the replay pretty much sums up the whole game.

Yeah, you realy have to agree with that one. The Buger kid had his way with Hightchew, and only lost by 30 points??????

So Jake Giesler is just a big kid that hangs around the basket, the NCC gaurds are not skilled, or fast enough to play with Laffette, Holmes, or Fern Creek's, then the fowards on NCC's team must be superstars. Congratulations to NCC's TEAM, and coaches on winning the LIT.

Hypothecaly Mayfield may beat Highlands, or Trinity! Realisticaly after watching both of NCC's & Mayfield's games on 12/3/2010, Mayfield would probably lose to O-Cath in a close game, and chances of beating Newcath are zero. Mayfield had a great QB, and No. 5 Jackson will be a load for two more years. Congratulations on your CLASS 1A championship.
