Final from Holmes

This was a sloppy game for both teams. Hightchew was the difference. He seemed to be the only one with energy. Both teams had a lot of turnovers. NewCath played man to man most of the game and when Holmes penetrated NewCath rejected a lot of shots. Holmes attacked and Geisler did end up with four fouls. This was a 2-4 point game most of the way. NewCath finally pulled out by 5 with 3 minutes to go and the 'Dawgs started fouling thus the final margin. NewCath was the better team tonight. Holmes Hayes wasn't hitting and Gray was in foul trouble. Coston hit 3 big threes and played well for Holmes.

Way to go Breds !!Nice rebound from the DeSales loss .

Nice job by the Breds. I thought the Dawgs would pull this one out at home. Not a good sign for Holmes as we head toward tourney time.

Both teams did not seem to be in the game. The crowd was not as big as I thought it would be and there was no energy in the place. Booher was doing everything he could to get the 'Dawgs going, but it didn't help. This is not the matchup Holmes wants to see in the tourney.

Newcath was the better team and continues to have Holmes' number, plain and simple. When Hayes tied the score at 44-44, Brannen went to a stall ball method and it worked to perfection as it forced Holmes to be more aggressive and Newcath drew fouls.

 

On a side not, Newcath fans should be embarassed of the fan who made the comment about all the Holmes players looking alike when Brannen was yelling shooter. Absolutely classless and my girlfriend couldn't even believe a grown adult would stoop that low to say something like that about HIGH SCHOOL KIDS. Pathetic.

 

Congrats to Newcath on the W. Too much Hightchew and Geisler. Hightchew is one tough kid.

Looked man to man to me funneling the Gray and Hayes to the middle with great help defense down low. But I could be wrong, regardless whatever they do works against the 'Dawgs.

Holmes: 15 - 10 - 14 - 14 - 53

Newcath: 14 - 13 -14 - 19 - 60

 

Scoring for Holmes:

 

Gray 17, Hayes 10, Coston 9, Knox 8, Rice 6, Palmer 3

I agree.

 

It casts a negative light on all those affiliated with Newcath (unfair, I might add) and takes away from a great performance by the young men on the court.
