Bluegrasspeps' Class 5A Rankings - Discussion
W.E. Raider replied to Ram's topic in KY Football (High School)
Their last state title was 10 years ago. Since, they have run through coaches like a bad small county program. They have a fascinating love/hate of themselves on this board. They have been completely owned by the one team that they can't allow that to happen. I have no problem saying that they're still a proud traditional program with a rich history, but I also still maintain that they're not a top 10 program until they win more than 1 of 9 against teams with winning records. Ryle will no doubt have a winning record this year...and true to form, Cov. Cath. lost to them. -

Ok...by having a pulse, I mean, they have a winning record...so when I say they "lose to everyone with a pulse" I mean they "lose to everyone with a winning record". So technically, no they didn't lose to EVERYONE with a pulse, just 8 of 9 times... -

You're not quite getting what I'm saying... I agree, Ryle, and the teams they lost to have a pulse...my contention is that they don't seem to beat any of these teams that have a pulse... -

So, I said they lose to anyone with a pulse...and you disagreed... Cov. Cath played 13 games in 2015 9 against teams with winning records....they wen 1-8 in those 9 games. 4 against teams with loosing records....they went 4-0 in those games. I apologize for my clearly misguided statement.... -

Cov. Cath overall is about as good as Highland's defense. In other words, they're not very good. But nobody from Cov. Cath or Highlands will admit either of those facts. -
Spin...you sure do have a lot of "JV was playing"'esque comments on here. Did this scrimmage not bode well for your beloved Spartans? I'm not sensing the usual bravado we have all grown so accustomed to.

2016 Football Season Predictions
W.E. Raider replied to Colonels_Wear_Blue's topic in KY Football (High School)
I predict lights in Park Hills...or at least a thread about them... I predict Highlands still can't play defense...and their fans still don't realize this this season... I predict lots of boring talk about who is better between South Warren and BG despite us not being able to know until next season... I predict Mayfield, BG, and Trinity do Mayfield, BG, and Trinity things to the rest of KY... I predict Mr. Football commits to UK...before he wins Mr. Football... I predict Ohio sucks...Go Kentucky! I predict that I'm thankful for BGP and all the people on here to argue with. Bring on Football season! -
But he hasn't been ruled eligible, right? Am I missing something here?

Longest Losing Streaks Entering 2016 Season
W.E. Raider replied to gchs_uk9's topic in KY Football (High School)
It's been my experience in meeting quite a few D1 coaches, that about half of them are little more than average high school-level coaches in terms of knowledge and ability. There is the better half as well, but 1 in 2, in my experience, have been far from what I would have expected. -

I would put Hoptown at #5 and bump everyone else down a spot, but other than that, looks good. -

Is the KHSAA investigating Paintsville?
W.E. Raider replied to theguru's topic in KY Football (High School)
So Johnson Central is having a hard time fending off the recruiting efforts of a 1A school that has won a whopping two Regional Titles in the past 18 years? Sounds about par for Johnson Central. -

Good points to why some kids leave certain programs
W.E. Raider replied to FanofMany33's topic in KY Football (High School)
I think you point out and give a fine example of a classic parent misnomer. A couple of things stuck out to me here: 1. You said the parent should go to the administration. You never mentioned going to the coach first. Maybe you assumed they had done this already. Or maybe, you were just touching on the classic mistake that occurs so many times over in today's day and age. 2. There seems to be this idea that parents and some others have that there is a long line these days of people waiting to be coaches. That should one coach not be their "answer all" that they need to move on to the next guy. Or even better, that the salaries being paid to coaches are a lure to draw in top talent. When in fact, the reality is that there are fewer and fewer folks going into coaching these days and the money that is there is abysmal to the point of giving you little leverage to hire with impunity. The likelihood of getting that "perfect fit" guy is far slimmer than working with a coach to try and achieve a happy medium. The best programs have a pretty common thread (other than talent), and it isn't the parents. It's this: 1. A supportive and consistent Administration and 2. A consistent Head Coach with a consistent vision and philosophy and 3. A consistent staple of Assistant Coaches I do admit...there are probably that 10-15% of coaches that just need to go. But this thread seems to me about pointing some fingers, and brother, if some fingers need to be pointed in this day and age, they don't need to be at the guys making 7 cents an hour, coaching a game they love to little Johnny whose dad is train-wrecking his experience because he has some convoluted vision of what some hollow scholarship to Campbellsville entails.
