Mayfield 2016

Featured Replies

What does Mayfield need to do to improve in 2016? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

Anytime you return RB Trajon Bright and QB Landon Arnett you know things cant be to bad. I think Trajon should be a MR. Football candidate. The offensive line returns a lot and for once there appears to be depth on a line that will have good size and speed. The defense returns the linebacker trio of Nick Workman, Kincer Arnett, and Kyle Hurt. These 3 make up what is arguably the best LB core in Cardinals history. The D line and secondary also look to be well stocked. The Cards were hit hard by graduation in some areas. Notably kicker/punter and wide receiver. The good news is that the new kicker looks like he is going to be decent and is well ahead of expectations. At WR the Cards have some kids who were good enough to start last year and will now get their shot. I do not expect any drop off at WR.

Overall, on paper at least, this appears to be the best team the Cards have fielded since 2010. Should this group go undefeated and win another state title (going for 5 straight), and that appears to be a real possibility, they would become the most successful group of seniors in the rich Mayfield Football history having tied the number of titles and having won 1 more game than any other group in Cards history. A further huge plus is the return of OC, Steven Hatchell, who returns to his old position after 2 years in the Palmetto State.

Expectations are high again this year just as they are every year at Mayfield and this should be one of the Cards better teams. It remains to be seen if they can get it done but it will certainly take a very good team to beat them.

Exactly

I think Trajon should be a MR. Football candidate.

I think he is a Mr. Football Candidate. Why not?

I believe I'm right in saying the 6 seasons from 2010 thru 2015, Mayfield has lost a total of 4 games. 3 of those are to larger class sized schools. 5 titles and lost to Hazard in the 2011 Final game. Unreal.

This team just keeps climbing the list (National Wins List That Is). As long as injuries are not overwhelming (a la Monroe County about 2 seasons ago), forget about it.

The return of Steven hatchell as OC is huge for the cardinals..GO BIG RED!!

The outlook is very good, but you still have to put forth the work, and get a break here and there. Should be a fun year for us.

I think Mayfield wins this year. They have a TON back. On paper they are the #1 2A team in the state. Their kids are very well coached and very good. With that being said. They have to play at OC in Region away and Desales or CAL away in the Semi's. I'm not saying they will not win, but it would put another check mark in my book for even more respect if they win those games away. I'm not saying they won't, but 4 straight home playoff games is pretty nice.

Bright is a Mr Football Candidate. Owensboro Catholic bottled him up for 3 1/2 quarters, but when they needed to run the clock out he scored two TD's in the fourth to sell the deal for Mayfield game. To me he ran as hard on his last carry then he did on carry #1. Tough kid. If he stays healthy this year. I think he's on the list.

Well if anyone in Kentucky football doesn't think that Mayfield will simply be Mayfield. Well you can't fix STUPID . I for one think that on any given Friday night against any team in this state, Mayfield has a chance to win. If you don't think so get your school to schedule them and find out. I assure you they ain't scared.

What D1 offers has Bright received so far?

I have absolutely no idea, but i for one doubt he will get a D1 offer.

I agree, his size will work against him concerning D1 offers
