So let's hear it, how good is Ryle, how bad in CCH?

Ryle is slightly better than last year and CovCath is lacking in self confidence. Thats my guess. I don't know much at all this year.

Cov Cath had some drops, but it's tough for guys to have to go to their knees and catch balls behind them. QB had time all night. He just needs to be more accurate.

Cov's QB runs the ball very well. They should have dipped into the speed option well a few more times.

Ryle has a nice team. First game mistakes will probably be fixed. Nice speed. Stud QB.

CCH actually got good pressure on Morgan tonight. Problem is he stepped up or out and then made plays. I thought Kam Butler did really well forcing Morgan out of the pocket.

All teams have strengths and "challenges" and team speed is a CCH challenge. Long across the middle being guarded by a LB was a problem. Surprised Ryle didn't try it more often.

Middle of CCH D gave up too many big plays.

CCH pass blocking was solid. AJ had time to throw in most cases.

Casey McGinnis was their best weapon. Ran really well.

WRs can't drop passses again this year. One kid really struggled. Can't have it.

CCH put up some nice yards but had too many unfinished drives.

Not sure why they ran 4 dive plays down 28-13 with 1st down at the 10.

Big play was in the 3rd qtr. Ryle up 21-13 and driving. CCH safety dropped a pick 6 where he was on a dead spring towards the goal line with only OL to stop him. Two plays later Ryle gets down to the CCH 1 or so and then punches it in. Would have been a huge momentum shift.

One kid had 3 drops with only one being a tough catch. Another WR dropped a pass that was slightly behind him that he needs to catch. WRs need to make plays. It's why they're out there.

AJ does struggle with accuracy but dropped passes hurt tonight.

I counted about 70 players on the CCH roster.

Way too many boys playing both ways. You have your starting center and guard also trying to play LB against a spread offense. Kudos to them for playing ever play but if there's not enough depth with 70 players to give them a blow then CCH is in trouble.

CovCath is okay, just okay. They were gutted on inside runs all night, and as Clyde mentioned, their lack of speed hurt them on screens to the backs and bubbles. The CovCath offense is fairly predictable, and that inside handoff to Casey isn't going to be there if AJ can't keep them honest with his arm. The CovCath passing game, for a myriad of reasons, wasn't there. Also, those QB draws are going to wear on AJ.

Additionally, I'm a big fan of Tanner Morgan. Big thick body, accurate, great deep ball, moves well enough in the pocket to avoid pressure, and I LOVE his demeanor on the sideline. Kid is a leader. Hope he has a HUGE senior year and a great college career.

Agree with what has been said from the CovCath perspective. I think the score was indicative on how the night went.

Ryle won the overall battle in the trenches and the game went their way.

1. The will must be stronger than the skill. No will from CCH. No passion.

2. Great/Beautiful young men at CCH, not many football players. They have a few but defensively the schemes do not allow for them to work in space.

3. Kids at CCH are cool with being mediocre.

4. I've never seen success from a football program that has to play kids on both sides of the ball. It's science. Body is beat down by the 4th qtr. Show me a program where this works and I'll shut up.

5. As soon as CCH gets out of their own way they will be special. Until then botched kick returns, dropped passes, and a bunch of Cosmic Candy before games are the norm. Yawn....

6. Let's be honest, CCH is a basketball school. And there is nothing wrong with that.
