Todd County Hires Les Broady As Their New Football HC

Featured Replies

Heard that Todd fired their AD and hired a middle school teacher for the job. With the open job for the football coach she hires her husband who, is the middle school principal. How will he have time to do this job? Only in Todd Co?

I don't think that's exactly how it went, but yes...their middle school principal was hired as their new HFC.

...he sat in on all of the interviews as well.

According to the Todd County Standard from two weeks ago, Todd Central had a number of people to apply for this position from as far away as Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and Missouri. If this is the best they do, it does not look good, even by Todd Central standards. With this not being announced in the media yet, maybe the principal and the school board are having second thoughts about this and hopefully veto this hire. The look of nepotism in this hire just reeks and maybe Todd Central a laughingstock in the Bluegrass.

Guys from all over apply for open jobs..I know of one school who did a phone interview with a Florida coach, one with several state titles. After they broke the news that it's also a teaching job and not a full-time coaching job. He laughed and said he was no longer interested. Don't let the places that coaches apply from skew your interpretation of the quality of the pool. Lol.

I've been following this hire and a few others in the Bowling Green area. Glad to see a few people raising some eyebrows. A couple of points:

Todd County is blessed with a lot of talent. A spread out rural county but plenty of talent to compete with most 2A's in the state. IMO, should make a playoff run every year.

A friend of mine inquired about the job and told me 2 weeks ago that they would be hiring someone internal--he could tell by the response he received from his inquiry. He nailed it, go figure.

From what I read in the Todd County paper, neither the AD or the new coach have much big boy football experience. One of the new AD's qualifications was she kept the baseball book for Muhlenberg--or so the paper says.

This is great news for 4A Logan County! Riding a 33-game-losing-streak and they have 2A Todd on this year's schedule.

I'd like to wish the new coach the best. Enjoy your time in charge. My best advice: hire assistant coaches (not dads) who know as much or more about coaching football than you do.

Here is the scoop on Les Broady, the new football coach at Todd Central, according to the June 22 edition of the Todd County Standard.

Broady is the principal at Todd County Middle School and the husband of newly named athletic director at Todd Central, Marnie Broady.

Started his coaching career from 1987-90 as an assistant at Glasgow. Was an assistant during the 1991 season at McLean County and joined the staff at Muhlenburg North in 1992. In 1996, Broady became head baseball coach and assistant football coach at Muhlenberg South HS. It looks like he had a little bit of big boy football experience from his time at Glasgow. However, he has never been a head football coach, but has head coaching experience on the diamond.

It is interesting that his athletic director wife stated that one of his strengths would be getting a foothold into the middle school kids that will be freshmen since they already have a relationship with him as their middle school principal.

How in the world can that even be allowed? Was he a candidate all along, or was he not a candidate and after all was said and done they didn't find any "qualified" candidates and he was an "off the ballet fill in"? If he was a candidate all along then this stinks like a rotted skunk corpse, and still has an air of stink regardless.

This. It stinks, I can promise you...at least from my source which is about as close as you can get.

I think everything stated is true, how can a wife supervise their husband and do a good job. This job and hire is a laughing stock in the whole state. Will they win a game this year with this staff of will they have anyone who will jump on the ship?

Somebody stated that "Todd Co is blessed with a lot of talent & should make a playoff run every year"? What planet is this guy from? Not Earth

I may not be considered from earth, which is fine...not the first and won't be the last I can assure you. Lol. I didn't say it initially, but Todd County has some talent....always have. Any and everybody familiar with WKY football will tell you the same.

Now, as far as the rest of the aforementioned comment...TBD...but, talent is in that county and on their ball team.

A couple of the issues in the recent past have been:

1) Location of Talent

- Most of it comes from the small town of Guthrie which is practically on the KY/TN border. Guthrie is 14 miles from Elkton/TCCHS. The flip side of that? It is also just 9 miles to Clarksville, TN & not just Clarksville...but, Northwest HS in Clarksville which is one of, if not the best program in the city year in year out.

2) No Little League.

-That's right. Not much more I can say. I think they attempt to put together some sort of "travel team" for some of the age groups, but that's about it.

Harry ... does Tennessee allow out of state students to play sports? If not, then are you saying Todd Co. families move to TN to play football?

I think its treated the same as kids who live in County A, but establish their eligibility in County B.
