Da champ Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 My office is down the hallway from our waiting area. Three customers were in there upset by the closing minister's prayer. I did not here this, but they said in his prayers he stated, " ...and the white man do what's right." They were all retired folks and were downright mad. What was the story?

Went through black being something. Brown staying around. Yellow being better or something like that and than telling white to do what was right.
cch5432 Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Brown man stick around. Yellow man being mellow The red man to get ahead, man The white man to see what's right Something like that
MountainThunder Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 I went back to my office after Obama was sworn in. Nothing like throwing a little racial divide in the closing prayer. Yet I would not be surprised to see some in the media find something to dig Warren on and let this go. I hope I am wrong as this is not what Obama ran on.
ladiesbballcoach Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Brown man stick around. Yellow man being mellow The red man to get ahead, man The white man to see what's right Something like that NO, he said white to do what's right.
ladiesbballcoach Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 They did point out that this guy started the SBL with MLK.
HOOKSHOT Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Brown man stick around. Yellow man being mellow The red man to get ahead, man The white man to see what's right Something like that If that was said , it's just another example of "tell them what they want to hear". Seems to work well most of the time.
rockmom Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 I'm white, and I'm not offended. Of course, I'm not a man so....

I did not here this, but they said in his prayers he stated, " ...and the white man do what's right." They were all retired folks and were downright mad. What was the story? What was wrong with that whole statement? It is a poetic style and is not meant as only whites should do right, Just as not only "brown should stick around." Much ado about nothing IMO.
Cameraman Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 I'm wondering what exactly would be right in his eyes?
Hatz Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Nice racist punch there. In what way? Should people not do right? Should people not stick around? Should we not all be a little more mellow? It's a rhyming scheme but meant for everyone.

I know of two men and a lady who would take exception to that. I didn't see it or hear it. Just listened to these folks commentary afterwards.
