NobizLikeShowbiz
I believe that most people were not offended but more upset because of the double standard... :thumb:
True blue (and gold)
Wish that worked both ways, then. Who you are is who you are. There are racists that have never uttered a derogatory comment. Words that you say don't make you racist. They may reveal it, but they don't make you what you are. shooter
In what way? Should people not do right? Should people not stick around? Should we not all be a little more mellow? It's a rhyming scheme but meant for everyone. The implication is that whites are not already doing and need to be told to do what's right. Not a very flattering picture to paint. If this were 1960 a comment like that would be more appropriate. But since it's 2009, it seems inappropriate and worthy of criticism. That's said. I don't think it was that big of a deal. I don't really care what this guy says or does. I also can't say that I was surprised at what he said. I think it was par for the course.

acemona
All I know is that I was standing around with 1.8 million people about 500 yards from the podium (most of the people btw were white) and when he said "That all those who do justice and love mercy say Amen. ALL of us said Amen and then he asked us to say it again, and we all said it again. Nobody in that crowd booed or were offended. They were moved.
