letabrotherspeak
Gang this thing has been going on since the end of the regular season. Here is the story. When UK heard that Tubby was fishing with Minnesota, they contacted Donovan through back-channels. There was mutual interest. Donovan agreed in principle to take the UK job, if and only if the divorce from Tubby was clean. I think we all agree that it was clean. As the tournament wound down, Donovan told his agent not to contact him while he was in Atlanta. He said just get the deal done. After the tournament ended, things got a little weird. Donovan would not take any calls from UK or return them. The agent said we will contact you. This is the snag that was alluded to by people. A lot of people behind the scenes were not happy about that. Donovan and Barnhart met for an hour yesterday. I think UK told him they needed to know by Monday what his intentions were. The signing period ends on the 11th. Last night there was a lot of positive vibes going about. I felt comfortable that Billy D was ours. However, that turns out not to be the case. Why did Billy decide to stay? A lot of reasons. I wonder if all the leaks and the timetable they placed on him had any effect. Who does UK turn to...Barnes and Gillespie are two obvious choices. I have heard that there may be a push for Pelphrey now.
halfback20
Well...why rush him if you pretty much know he's yours?

THEGREENDANDY
We need to go after Calipari.
halfback20
This is unequivocally not true. How either of you could claim to know either way is beyond me. And I'm tired of people saying they have "inside sources".
STRIKE3
I hope, they go after and get Izzo.....may not be a chance, but he would be my choice.

pigman
As bad as I wanted him he's not the only coach out there and we do have things that need to be taken care of. If this had been going on as long as LABS says he's had plenty of time.

You can be tired of it all you want, ask gametime and others, mine is legit, he's (GT) talked to him, met him, and knows the connection. I think it makes some of the UK fans on here sick that the biggest IU fan they know knows/knew more about this situation than they did. And, oh yeah, mine's the ONLY one who hasn't been wrong once through this whole process.

I do not care who has inside sources, I do not care who's met who. I choose not to believe anyone's inside scoop until it hits the press. BTW, you're not the biggest IU fan I know. Leslie Eagles Fan
Were not going to get Calapari. I think we should get one of the up and coming coaches in the business (aka. Mark Few).
02Ram54
I usually run with LABS per UK stuff, but 98's source is solid here.
