From what I recall my son saying, Rash always took time away after the season. And keep in mind that Beechwood has a full time on staff strength coach for weights and conditioning. That leads me to my next two cents. 
 

Talked to my boy last night, asked him his thoughts on Rash’s replacement. He said Dad, only one guy could do what Rash did and he’s already on staff. The aforementioned strength coach Logan Neff. Said all the players love him, would run through a wall for him, and he would continue the tradition that Rash and others started years ago. 
 

Thought that was an interesting take, from someone who spent time in the locker room recently. Will be interested to see how it plays out for sure. But one thing is for sure, to follow in Rash’s footsteps, you will need to be situationally savvy, inspirational, available, mentoring to all, on site all day, and a leader. From seeing him develop my son how he did, Neff checks all of them. And with a background from UC football, may make this whole process a little more interesting……..

I think there is a policy regarding the actual teaching positions.  But not coaching positions.  But I've also been told in recent years that with so many teaching openings the schools have the option to "emergency fill" of something to that effect that let's them bypass that rule quite often now.

Has Neff ever coached football? Not sure of his background or what’s on his resume.

Could not agree more! Definitely there for ALL athletes. Such a great mentor as well...

I did not have Eddie losing the Beechwood job to a strength coach on my 2023 Bingo card!

Beechwood rarely has those kind of problems though. Usually there are many applicants for a teaching opening at Beechwood. 

So how many of the coaches that were in the program last year are “in the building?”

Maybe some NCC Middle School, but I'm not sure about that. His resume has some impressive parts though. He worked under Luke Fickell at UC in Strength and Conditioning. He played at TMU, won and played in some big time games while at NCC. Would Beechwood be able to overlook the obvious deficit in head coaching experience? 

I think the biggest obstacle for Neff would be that the HC job at Beechwood won't pay the bills. How would being the head football coach impact the Strength and Conditioning job he is currently doing?

Not doubting the players feelings towards the guy, was legitimately asking his background.

Would definitely be an interesting hire, not just the lack of HC experience, but the lack of actual football coaching experience in general. 
 

I get the attraction, being young, kids love him, easy transition, but also have to believe Beechwood will get 100+ applications and find someone(s) who will fit those things listed above, aside from maybe easy transition- although can be done effectively by a new guy as well.

Beechwood is too good of a job and too smart to not put themselves in a position a few years down the road asking themselves  “who thought it was a good idea to hire the guy with 0 football coaching experience” after some mediocre (although tough to do with the position Beechwood is in) or most likely, a large mismanagement of the program in some aspect. 

But, who knows as He could be the next Saban. Just my two cents.

Just to play devils advocate as I don’t have a dog in the fight, do you REALLY want the kids input on a position like this?

There is a poster on here (NL Tanker) who swears that the kids had input on another HUGE coaching job in the state (T) and the results have been underwhelming as far as Alums are concerned.

I am of the belief it is always good to have 1 or 2 seniors or captains in on the process, as it is their team, and if they do not buy in, the new coach will not be successful to begin with, but I do not believe they should have any significant weight on a decision. Simply being apart of the conversation or getting updates that they can then take to their team is sufficient enough for a high school kid deciding the future of a program.
