Time to stop rationalizing this issue. With Coach Cal, it's ALWAYS gonna be a young team. Always. The "young team" excuse doesn't wash with me.

I'm not saying they have to play Murderer's Row; or that every pre-conference game has to be against a top-20 team.

 

If you're gonna play a team from Utah, play Utah. If you're gonna play a team from Indiana, play Indiana.

 

But didn't Fort Wayne beat Indiana by 20?

Lets face it, they are always gonna be young. They are almost always gonna have a couple losses that leave the fanbase shaking their heads. And they'll almost always be playing pretty solid basketball heading into the SEC tournament.

 

We have this conversation more years than not early in the year and things are much better when it matters.

Defense was horrible!! but wait, we don't worry about playing defense because we produce NBA players.....my fault for thinking that Ky should play better defense and beat better teams.....just lost it for a moment and thought we were a college basketball program that cared about winning college basketball games....my bad!!!!

It’s gonna take more than this one game to make me give up on the team. When I feel that way I remember from 2006 to 2009 and wondered if UK would ever be in the hunt again.

UK needs to play more zone, struggled in their man to man today. They shoot a few too many jumpers as well, but this team has a lot of potential.

So it begins. Over the next month and a half we will hear they simply aren't good. This team will be out in the 1st or 2nd round. I'm tired of seeing Cal rely on freshman. We need more Ky boys who know the true meaning of playing for UK. Cal is a good recruiter but can't coach. I miss Pitino. These guys only care about the NBA.

 

I'm sure I am forgetting a few things. But that's usually what we hear most years from end of December to late February. Only to see UK amazingly basically every year be playing their best and one of the hottest teams in the country entering the tournament.

Exactly! They were so lazy on D today. At one point in the first half, theCats had on guy shoot a 3 while the other four didn’t cross half court. 3 missed and UCLA still beat our D to the hoop. They looked like they were in slo-mo on D all day today. UC beat the crap out of UCLA bc they put hustled and out muscled them

Unless Kentucky starts playing better I don't see them going very far in the NCAA tournament. This is why I hate the way Cal runs things at UK. All he's worried about is producing NBA players. He pushes them out the door as soon as they walk through it and that's why I wish he would leave and go somewhere else. Kentucky needs someone in there that can win games and keep players for more than a year.

Because if you’ve watched UK the last 6 or 7 years it’s been so obvious they don’t care about D or winning. Good point!

Every year I read UK fans talk about recruiting on this site. Talk of this recruit and that recruit. We have X number of McD’s all Americans coming. News flash. Many aren’t coming if previous years guys aren’t leaving. You want guys who stick around, recruit 3 and 4 star recruits. Cal could have run for gov. 4 years ago. Now he’s worse than Tubby and BG. Be careful... you’re next coach may take you back to those days. Have fun with that.
