What is considered a blowout?

14-17 points= win soundly

18-24 points= win going away

25+ points= blowout

Say a team is up 24-7 late in the fourth quarter and has its JV/freshmen in.

If team doesn't score (turnover on downs, kneel, run out the clock, whatever), it will "win soundly" because it won by 14-17 points.

If the team scores, makes or misses an extra point or goes for two and fails (now up 30-7 or 31-7), it will win going away" because it won between 18-24 points.

If the team scores, goes for two and gets it (now up 32-7), it wins via "blowout."

So using your standard, ONE POSSESSION in the final two minutes of an already determined outcome can alter the game to 1-of-3 scenarios: win soundly, win going away or blowout?

I might be getting too technical, but not sure I agree.

I'm pretty easy: Running clock is only DEFINITE blowout.

Also can't go with just points scored. You also have to look at

When the big lead was made.

A 21-14 game at half that ends with a 49-14 game may not really be considered a blowout when the big points may have been scored in 4th qtr off turnovers etc.
