Ryle 48 Highlands 24

Featured Replies

As a HHS fan I am not going to be as negative as some of the others. HHS has lost 3 of 4 and all three have been by similar margins. Cooper handed the Birds a 24 point defeat. Cooper dominated both sides of the ball. The Scott Co margin was 26 points. I have heard the game described as "uninspired play" and "going through the motions". Phrases never associated with HHS football.

Changes being made. More to come. Ryle with a 24 point victory. Though the margin is similar the path to that end result was much different. The Birds were in the game. They didn't play up to the standard we Birds fans are accustomed to, but it was better. Ryle is a very good team. The score was tied at half. It was a running clock at half in Georgetown.

Week one of the three week stretch before the district play begins and HHS played better. I expect to see improvement again in each of the next two weeks. I expect to see more changes. Thank goodness we have quality opponents like Ryle, St X, and SK to test the process.

Some people on here need to grow-up in a hurry and that goes for both sides. Never seen so much bravado out of parents. Game is over, Ryle won and time to move on to the next opponent.

Oh yeah... Well, my dad can beat up your dad!

What offers is Jared Daugherty getting? His 45 yd field goal would have been good from at least 60. Kickoffs 5-10 yards deep in the endzone, his leg is UNBELIEVABLE.

Answer: None

Has been invited to games by Morehead and Lindsay Wilson. Wilmington has also put out an invite. We realize it is a tough gig to get a scholly as a kicker. Hopefully someone comes a calling as the season progresses. Watched the kid from Moeller last week on television and as an obviously biased person, I see little if any difference and that kid has a full ride to Michigan State.

He has now converted 2 46 yard field goals this season, he is now 9 for 9 on PAT's and has tied the HHS career record and has touchbacks on 14 of 16 kickoffs with one being the onside kick last night. My understanding that he was good from 58 last night in warmups twice.

I love Austin Beal as a football player, and his play making ability is very evident. I do not understand the obsession with moving him to the offensive side of the ball. Believe it or not, Kendall-Cain-Murray-Miller, etc are very good high school playmakers. The offense has not been able to get these kids the ball in situations that allow them to showcase their talents.

Is Cain hurt? If not, please find a way to get the young man the ball.

If hobbling around on one leg is hurt then I would say yes. I hope that kid makes it through the season so Coach Listerman gets to see him on the hardwood.

I would put Beal in the slot and throw him screens. Get him the ball in space, he can make people miss. Why not? It cant hurt.

Disagree on the CCH skill players. #4 McGinness is a pretty nice player. He definitely stood out against Ryle.

If you go back and read all the posts I was specifically referring to the game against LexCath.

With that said McGinness had a real nice kick off return in the game. He is definitely a solid player but he didn't stand out against LexCath.

My bad. I was speaking in general. I am surprised that he did not stand out against Lex Cath. He is a game changer when he gets his hands on the ball. He may be the difference when CCH plays Highlands imo.

He is so much fun to watch bi wish him the absolute best and would love to see him in Sundaysnine of these days.

Best post of the day. Point blank and no sugar coating. HHS will be back. It's HS football and every team goes thru rebuilding years. They will be fine.

Maybe try Daugherty at tight end. A strong kid who could help with the run blocking and maybe catch a few passes also. The tight end has been void of HHS offense for a while now, even Dale's last few years of coaching.

There's not one team in N. Ky this year that could've given the Highlands teams of the past 8 years a game for even a 1 quarter. It would have been blow out city. The coaches knew there was a 2 year opportunity to compete with Highlands and they came calling to take their shot. Opposing coaches knew it and Highlands knew it. Will they stay on the schedule in the future? I don't believe they will. I'm hearing the sophomore class on down is loaded again. I think all the N Kentucky coaches will drop the series again instead of taking their 60-80 point beatings and getting exposed as they were in the past.

Congratulations! Enjoy you 1 win every 25-30 years or so over a Highlands team that's struggling right now.

Sorry, Bosshog, but think your aggressive attack is a little over the top. Time to just take your lumps with class and give credit where due. The world did not see such a down year for HHS coming, nor did it forecast next year to be bad, nor did it know Muellar was retiring in advance.

Your program will survive and flourish again. But the days of intimidating the bigger No. Ky. programs is probably in jeopardy. I suspect HHS will have excellent teams again, but forecasting that the local 6A teams will run away and not play is probably a little demeaning and underselling their programs. I give HHS credit for putting the bar so high that other programs have worked very hard to catch-up.

Great post. There is absolutely no reason at all to talk down to other teams and that is what Boss has been doing.

Sometimes it's better to take a page out of the teams that beat your team and take the high road and be gracious same in a loss, being gracious goes a lot farther than consistently talking down to others.

Outstanding post.

Cain is hurt and for that kid to be hobbling like he was last night he is truly hurt. He is a gamer and most kids would not have even suited up with what he has. He is getting better but really needs time more than anything. Looking forward to a healthy Mitchell soon to see if he can help.

I've been a little hard on the QB but he really needs to stay in the pocket and forget about rolling out. When in the pocket and set throws as good as anyone and looks like the D1 prospect. On the move, very below average. All that being said, if the line can't buy him any more than the half a second they give him then time to scrap the passing game. Keep an extra blocker in and the kid will find recievers. Last dig and I'll leave him alone. Third and long and you have a seam, use that 6 5 frame and get the yards needed... Don't slide...

Congrats to Ryle. A very respectable program. Good luck with the rest of your season.

Thank God the coaches and players are moving on, right? Parents will be on this thread until someone locks it down : )
