Nope. Just saying that many across the state believe that Coach Hicks and SC are not on a level playing field with the rest of the state. Anytime you get that many transfers in, you have to wonder why, don't you?

Sorry, I am not buying any defense of this activity in any way. We are talking about corruption in HS athletics .........and the argument has gone from everyone else is doing it, to grades/tests don't matter you can get to law school anyway, to it's OK to use taxes/funds for education to supplement a schools basketball team? Enough already.............

Great for when someone splits custody between children and those parents live reasonably far away from one another.

 

Let's go back a year. What about a situation when, say, someone wants to hire Lafayette Assistant Jonathon Davis away from Lafayette. If his Dad go the Job at Lexington Catholic, do we say that Jonathon goes back to Lafayette to play? Or is he just ineligible for a year at Lexington Catholic? I'd imagine Jonathon wanted Jackson on his team if he were to coach. If we make an exception for him though, then the floodgates open.

 

So what happens if we're looking at a guy like say, Rodney Woods leaves Wayne County to take the Holmes job. His son, Peyton Woods, could stay at Wayne County for the season (and live away from his family), or he could sit out a year after he joined him at Holmes.

 

Too many innocent people hurt in this one.

 

These are just extreme examples, but think of the number of kids who move (find cheaper housing, get a better job offer, etc.

 

 

I'm more for letting everyone do the transfer process as it is now and worry abut the rest later.

No extreme examples at Cordia.....just trying to take advantage of system.....and everyone knew they were going to get busted sooner or later

Glad to see the remaining kids can transfer without penalty.

 

If the remaining kids willingly took the free ride and/or the perks, not so sure they should not be punished as well?

As for the mountains, I didn't see Elliot County or Shelby Valley recruiting back when they were demolishing teams.

Can they now drop out of the KHSSA and become a prep school ?

 

They could have dropped out BEFORE the ruling. Any school can pull out of the KHSAA any time.

 

However, it's hard for a PUBLIC school (which Cordia claims to be) to be run as a prep school.

 

Also, EVERY Cordia team would have to pull out of the KHSAA. Can't pick and choose which sports play where. Prep School boys' hoops is big and OK for football, hockey (don't see it) and lacrosse (maybe), but not very advanced for every other sports.

 

If Cordia goes prep school:

1) Lots of kids no longer playing sports

2) Travel would increase 10X.

3) Would media exposure actually be better? How often would big tv stations/newspapers be coming down there?

I was talking about Hood being a tad jealous. But there are things I know firsthand about some SC dealings that I won't divulge but suffice to say they weren't above board. But I can say that about several schools. For instance, I know of several schools that called the Rose Hill kids when that whole thing blew up and begged them to come. Direct violation. I'd suppose in the corrupt mountain region of the 14th that those calls were made last night and continue today.
