As a CovCath fan I am extremely disappointed for the kids more than anything.

I think this game would be very competitive so I have no answer.

 

Apparently, the administration and coaches feel differently. I think that is absolutely the sole reason behind this decision.

 

They are delusional if they think that is the case. They have a talented sophomore class and have had a great year thusfar.

 

Beechwood's JV is 5-2 playing all 4A and 6A schools, and Cov Cath is one of the teams that beat the Tigers. Cov Cath has a good JV team.

Highlands JV has not lost a game, whopee. Records mean absolutely nothing in regards to JV football IMO. It is the fact that kids put in the time expecting to play 10 games and in this case one gets to play 4 and the other gets to play 7. Really hurts in the development department when many of these kids do not get on the field Friday night.

Since nobody else will answer form the CCH camp, I will say it was because of the opponent. Not trying to disrespect Ryle, which apparently has a great group of underclassman, the best of which are playing Varsity, but IMO was an easier opponent. They kept them on the schedule for that reason. If its any different, maybe a guy in the know can correct me.

TOG is in a tough spot. I wouldn't give him too much of a hard time. I'm sure he is just as upset as everyone else that the games were cancelled and I'm sure he is not happy with the school he loves for doing so. Lets give him a break, we all know if it was up to him the games would be played.

I won't speak for TOG but I do know there has been a death of someone close to him and his family.

Just a question.......if this happened at any other school, would it get the same scrutiny? Or since this is CCH, are they held to a higher standard? Are they "done" with HHS and looking forward to joining 5A?

CCH proudly holds themselves to the higher standard.

I just can't believe that covcath would walk away....twice. That program is supposed to be better than that. I don't know the reason here, but I do know there are very few valid reasons to cancel and not allow the boys to compete.

Well it depends. CovCath is a proven State Champion and was a formidable opponent back in the day when Coach Ray controlled the ship and even a one yr teaser with Rodenberg.

 

They have beat Highlands here and there and this built the rivalry and respect for one another imo.

 

Not sure who the other school (s) would be that you speak of but for me its a mute point if you are talking same size and caliber as CovCath.

 

Just way too many kids to make the waves that they have created over the past 3 wks concerning the Highlands games.

I don't want to rock the CCH boat, but my question is the same I raised last year and at the beginning of the season. CCH as you say has beaten HHS here and there which gives them respect. Does 3 times in 17 years really equal here and there? CCH has been treated with kid gloves on here for awhile and no other school besides HHS gets that kind if respect in NKY and I do t get it. CCH hasn't won anything in awhile, not even a district title, so why treat them like the untouchables they have become around here?

Putting the HHS cancelation a side for a sec. How can head coach only let your JV team play 4 games? That is a wasted season of development if you ask me. CCH is definitely heading in the wrong direction if they think that is acceptable.

This is the most bothersome issue here. Not just that CCHS has, for lack of a better term, ducked HHS twice. Much more important - only 4 games played.
