Here is the view from a non CCH person.

 

I think the program at CCH is as good or better than it ever has been. Wirth has taken CCH to a higher level. Unfortunately, Highlands has gone to a different level and CCH has not been able to catch up. If Highlands is the measuring stick, CCH is not where it was because they aren't beating Highlands. If the rest of the teams in N. Ky. is the measuring stick, CCH is as good or better than it ever has been.

I like CCH, grew up in Ft. Mitchell so I'm very familiar with the programs past etc. But this is exactly what I've been talking about. Clyde brings up a good question and what I've been saying all along. Exactly what makes the program now better than it was in the past? It's just the perception of the program that too many have on here that puts them in a class by themselves compared to all the other NKY schools except Highlands which I think is unwarranted praise.

I have found over the course of this week after losing a Sister-in-law and a close friend losing their first Grandchild (a son) in child birth, that life is far too short and to precious to worry about some things like a JV football game being cancelled.

 

As far as the CovCath Football program, I want to remind people that the incoming Freshmen Class of 2018 (not the current Freshmen of 2017) will be the 50th class of CovCath Football. When these young men dawn their jersey's in the fall of their Senior year (2017) they will be part of the 50th year of CovCath Football long and glorious years of football beginning with my class of 1968 who sold those candy bars and played to a 5-4-1 record in the Fall of 1967.

 

Yes there have been some great years from 1967 to the current 2013 and also some not so great years too but throughout all of these years the one constant is the young men who have put on the Blue and White of the CovCath Football teams and their Coaches, who have guided them not only as their Coaches but as their mentors, teachers and spiritual leaders. Men like Coach Steve Rasso, Coach Rudy Tassini, Coach Lynn Ray, Coach John Rodenberg, and current Coach Dave Wirth to name a few, all whose job it was (is) to teach Football and more importantly, guide these young men to bigger and better understanding of life and how to succeed by working hard, working as a team, to understand how to win, how to lose as Catholic young men.

 

I am a proud member of that first team in 1967 and with God's and "The Boss" blessing, I hope to be on the field when CovCath celebrates it's 50th year of HS Football! I pray that Coach Dave Wirth is still in charge of the CovCath Football program, for Dave is a great man, who not only is a outstanding football coach, teacher, Husband, Father and Catholic Christian man.

I can't give you an answer as to whether I agree or disagree until you tell me how you're measuring.

 

I agree that state championships is not an accurate way to measure.

At the risk of putting words into someone else's keyboard, I assume he means he simply hopes that Dave is there in 2017 and doesn't have any reason to believe he will not be.
