It shows desperation when you have to use any Boone County school in your argument. They only had two high schools when Conner won their title. If the county still had two, multiple titles would have been by now. Let's not kid ourselves here. While CCH still operates at a distinct advantage (no boundaries), they still can't get the separation they should with said advantage.

I don't "cry" about them, just try to state the facts. It is what it is. A 5th high school is being planned now. Talent dilution will continue. If I was in charge, the county would have two high schools still. Super schools like small college campuses.

Can't disagree with your comments as per what I have in bold and some Ryle folks and I talked about this very same thing tonight prior to the Freshmen game at Ryle but again, if you don't like what is going on at the Boone County BOE, then vote the Board member out, or better yet run yourself! The BCBOE are making the rules and decisions that you and many in Boone County seem to hate!

BTW RomanE you could easily go to two HS by taking the 10th, 11th and 12th grade student from Conner and sending them to Cooper and then sending the 9th grade students from Cooper to Conner. This way Conner would be the 9th grade HS for the Cooper and Conner kids and then Boone County would be the Freshmen school for Ryle and Boone kids while Ryle would be the Senior HS for Boone and Ryle kids.

 

Now I would image that you would have to build more classrooms at both Ryle and Cooper but both school have the room for the expansion and just think of the money being saved by not having to build another HS with a Gym, Football Field and both Baseball and Softball field. Could be done and then Boone County would have those two mega HS like Scott County and would make you happy.

In the summer of 2003 one Maurice Mitchell was sitting with other CCH dads at a practice and told us that he had talked to Dale that morning and got their workout schedule. We didn't believe him until he pulled it out. Had been there, talked to Dale, and was raving about the HHS way.

 

I do recall seeing a man one day (have never seen him before) at workouts standing in the corner taking notes...Perhaps this is the Maurice guy you are talking about?

 

I also recall seeing Maurice walk up to Dale and tell him how great he is and ask him for an autograph...

 

Could this be what you are talking about? A workout schedule that was written down by Maurice and autographed on the bottom by Dale?:thumb:

 

Highlands has and always will have open practices for all to come watch as Dale has nothing to hide especially in NKY.

Why don't you consider suggesting a super school, maybe an all boy school and call it NKY Catholic to the Diocese. Seems as if the County school system is not working for you.

This thread has become quite distracted. Obvious that the original issue is not being addressed. I'm not sure how this thread turned into a discussion about the number of schools in BC. I guess any way to avoid the real issue is beneficial. Time to shut it down.

Can I say the same thing for Cooper/Conner/Boone County/Simon Kenton etc. and any other school not named HHS, Beechwood or NCC? Win something and then lets pretend you have unprecedented success. I mean what it's been 30 years since Conner won a State Title and to my knowledge none of the other teams sans HHS, Beechwood, NCC and maybe a Bellevue (don't have the time to look it up) have ever won a State Title!

 

Go ahead rag on CovCath all you want for not winning a State Title since 2006 but again when was the last time some other teams from NKy won a State Title again not named HHS, Beechwood or NCC!

The schools you reference haven't won anything at all in the last 20 years.

 

Other than the fluke Conner win, who locally has beaten CCH? I went and looked, they've lost 7 times to local teams in the last 7 years(Conner, Ryle(x2), Beechwood, NCC(x2) and Dixie)

 

What other local team can match CCH's "Local" record other than Highlands?

Is anybody going to tell us why this game was cancelled again? If not, this is a useless thread.

Agreed that getting more athletes on the field is helpful. I'm simply saying Dale's Birds over the last 5 to 8 years have simply used speed and athletic ability more than any other. Their linemen aren't bulky. Heck, they used to have a kid at OT who was a 100M sprinter. They had a 150 pound DT going against Cincy X. They USE that speed and athleticism more than any other team.

 

I have to agree. When Mason County played HHS in the state semis about 10 years ago, several of the linemen were huge. Fast forward to a couple of years ago and most looked to be in the 220-pound range but they all were ​fast.

The 90s were better if we're using a relative measure. Early to mid-2000s with exception of 2003 were strong.

 

I didn't say the program wasn't in good standing. They're in solid position. I do have questions about depth if we can't play JV games though. They're simply not "clearly better" as you said. That's my issue with your statement.

 

From 1999-2004, Cov Cath had a winning record one year. I don't think the program was better in the early 2000's.

Over the past three years, Cov Cath is the best team in N. Ky. besides Highlands. Isn't that recent history? Are they the second best team this year? I don't think so, but they are in the top 3 each of the past 3 years. Were they the second best team in 2012? Maybe, maybe not. Were they the second best team in 2011? Probably yes. Add that all up and they are the second best team IMO. If you think someone else is better over all three years cummulatively, please speak up.

 

As to your "kid gloves" comments, this thread and a few others make it pretty clear no one is handling CCH with "kid gloves".
