Highlands JV only played one NKY team this year Campbell Co. First game of the year for the JV.

 

HHS 24 at Campbell Co 14

HHS 37 at George Rogers Clark 8

HHS 42 vs Lexington Cath 19

HHS 37 at Cinti Withrow 6

HHS 35 at Lexington Bryan Station 0

HHS vs Cincinnati Elder

HHS vs Scott County

 

It might be that CCH is following not leading a boycott?

 

Since MOST teams JV schedules follow their Varsity scheduling, I'm not sure anyone ELSE is intentionally ducking Highlands. Cooper had one open week (won't make the drive to S.Oldham for JV) and we worked in Beechwood instead.

 

As PigSkin says, schools usually play the JV of the same team they play in varsity each week. Highlands has played one varsity game against a N. Ky team besides CCH. That was Campbell Co. and they also played the Campbell Co. JV. I don't know what Harrison County does for JV but perhaps Highlands preferred to play CCH to Harrison Co., or maybe Harrison Co. didn't want to play Highlands. That I don't know.

 

The remaining games for Highlands are Holmes (no JV, playing froshmore), Elder and Warren Central. So following the JV plays varsity opponent model, Highlands had no N. Ky. opponents for JV except Campbell Co. and CCH.

 

Now, as to why CCH cancelled, let's play the score comparison game. Highlands JV beat Campbell Co. 24-14. Beechwood JV beat Campbell Co. 24-6. Cov Cath JV beat Beechwood 22-15. That tells me that CCH and Highlands should be a competitive game. So the cancellations shouldn't be due to any competition concerns. Which leads to all the speculation about the real reason for the cancellation, until someone clears things up.

I don't want to rock the CCH boat, but my question is the same I raised last year and at the beginning of the season. CCH as you say has beaten HHS here and there which gives them respect. Does 3 times in 17 years really equal here and there? CCH has been treated with kid gloves on here for awhile and no other school besides HHS gets that kind if respect in NKY and I do t get it. CCH hasn't won anything in awhile, not even a district title, so why treat them like the untouchables they have become around here?

I think the program at CCH is as good or better than it ever has been. Wirth has taken CCH to a higher level. Unfortunately, Highlands has gone to a different level and CCH has not been able to catch up. If Highlands is the measuring stick, CCH is not where it was because they aren't beating Highlands. If the rest of the teams in N. Ky. is the measuring stick, CCH is as good or better than it ever has been.
