Highlands / Covington Catholic JV Cancellation Take II

Featured Replies

So they are playing tonight against Ryle, but cancelled the JV game Saturday? Something else is up, (I hope). Injury situation won't be better tonight vs Saturday.

Something doesn't make sense here.

I going to call it now that if coach Wirth doesn't at least make it back to Ft Thomas in Nov, he will get invited to his 1st ever PHM board meeting.....Lol!!!! So does he throw the Holmes game to at least give him a slim chance to play Highlands at full strength. He would then only have to get past Ashland then right? I mean tell us that the "Blue" goose broke down or something else....But just not attempt to play......Come on man!!!

Wow, that is interesting scenario TBirds. Because they ain't beatin JC at JC. Hmmm, you know, they may not have to make a "adjustments" for the Holmes game. If injuries are still in place, the Blueboys may be a 3rd seed anyway. Talk about a not so happy PHM. I'm thinking no more wing discounts.

I hope I am. Would love to see my Birds play the Colonels again. Because the way things are going, we are running out of time.

Here is what I know of the situation. CovCath is in fact playing JV game tonight against Ryle and played their last one versus Beechwood. Games in between the Bird games. Ryan Mc is in fact playing QB for the JV tonight against Ryle. No way CVH plays against HHS because they would not want him to risk injury versus the Birds JV. Also hearing that Wirth may be wearing out his welcome in Park Hills. Interesting situation to say the least. 20 plus posts in this thread and we have not heard from the mouthpiece of the Colonels? Interesting.

Sad that HHS gets shorted another JV game. At best they are going to play 7 games assuming that Elder and Scott County do not elect to cancel.

Don't know the reason, but I don't like it.

Having said that, all this talk about Wirth "wearing out his welcome" is humorous as it all seems to be emanating from the Bluebird side of things. Wirth has this program in the right direction as evidence by it's high ranking despite an enormous amount of injuries- and with the imminent move to 5A, I think it would be a tremendously dumb move to get rid of the horse that took you across the river.

Correction: It's because of injuries out the wazoo.

It makes absolutely no sense to use the excuse of injuries to cancel a game scheduled for Saturday on a Monday, and then play a game on Monday night.

Waiting to hear the " real explanation" from someone in the know.

This is inexcusable! To schedule an opponent twice, and then cancel both is just not acceptable. I was on record in the last thread saying i was fine with the explanation and timing of the first cancelation. There is no acceptable excuse for this one with less than a week notice and your playing your other jv opponents.

I smell something bad here and the smell is coming from Park Hills. I hope they get their wish and get to play Highlands in the playoffs, AGAIN.

As I have stated several times.

CovCath does not not get a free pass on this one. Just doesn't make sense and the CovCath faithful have to be concerned for the future of their football program.

If memory serves me correct, didnt CovCath just start a Wrestling program? Could this new program be stealing talent from the FB program?

Either way, TBirds might just have uncovered something here, I think there might be some substance to this whole seeding outcome.

WOW!!! Wouldn't that be something...Just sayin

Iam sad to say I have lost alot of respect for Covington Catholic High School football program with the recent news. For the alumn and the current group of faithful,...you deserve better than this...JMO

Ok, if it is true that CCH is still playing Ryle tonight then anything thrown their way about cancelling Highlands again is deserved.

Got to pick up paint in the morning early. This ought to be good. Hey TBird, wings for lunch tomorrow? Don't you still have that coupon for some freebies. Better use them before they expire.

Paging Clizzy!

You can't believe this baloney can you?

Understand the overall picture but to pick and choose your battles after committing several months ago does not send a very positive message that "we are back" and "we are moving in the right direction"

At some point in time, the parents and more importantly the kids have to say to themselves."how are we going to win another State Championship if we keep cancelling Highlands.

Or, maybe CovCath is not interested in State Titles anymore and are content with winning season:thumb: Idk, the spirit is fading here...

Heck, for what we know, Coach Wirth has convinced his team that they can cancel Highlands in the playoffs as well.

Can he do that....:thumb:
