  1. I hope to see the same effort on defense tonight and more polish and timing on Manual's offense, if so it will be a good night. No predictions on the outcome due to the fact I have not seen Fern Creek yet.
  2. That is terrible, good luck to his recovery.
  3. Tyler Hansbrough UNC - My wife heard his name like 20 times from Jay Billas and various ESPN folks the other night and looked at me and asked "Hasn't he played there for more than 4 years?" I said no they just talk about him so much it seems that way... And OMG the Dieners in CUSA...
  4. If Louisville is lucky Villanova missed fouls shots then Villanova is lucky because Louisville missed most all there three point shots that game. If Louisville got lucky that Sosa hit that shot Kentucky got lucky that they stole the in bounds pass from Clark a few seconds before. The Notre Dame game was either going to be a Louisville win at the end of regulation or OT and they went to OT so I would not call it lucky. Louisville was fortunate at times during those wins, but there is something to be said for raw desire and talent eeking out a win. Louisville has a lot of talent and are starting to come together but the Cards have a long way to go to be a dominate force. I hope the peak at the right time but I don't expect them to be dominating this month. Good luck to the Cats tonight I am hoping they beat Tennessee in Knoxville worst than Gonzaga.
  5. This is a good post, and I don't disagree that this can be so, but you can also have a situation where you play alot of average teams and winning a lot and then you run into the real deal and get killed. This schedule is good for a team in Manuals district because as long as you get one win in district then you are going to the playoffs, and after maybe one easy game you are going to have to face a row of very tough teams. Manual will be better off I believe playing a tough schedule and learning from them rather than collecting wins in the city. There are some really good teams in all classes and playing good teams will make or break a team.:thumb:
  6. From what I have seen this far I would have to think that St. X will be the favorite. But that is why we play these games.
  7. Yeah that is weird. Most transfers I knew of and there were not that many were over the summer not during the year, I knew of one baseball player who played for Trinity his freshman year and his dad lost his job and they could not pay for him to go there any more and the work study was not enough to cover so he transferred mid year and then sat out one season but I am not sure about the specific case you are talking about. Transfers were few and far between in my day though.
  8. No it is because the price increase caused too big a hit on the front end.
  9. I am not a big UK homer by any means but sometimes the refs can seem pretty one sided for or against any team. Tonight they weren't doing UK any favors....
  10. Excellent Win for the Cats! Good luck the rest of the way!
  11. Nice win against the Mountaineers!:dancingpa
  12. It could go either way for the Cards right now, but you have to think that this game is a huge step forward. Not because UK is playing well, cause they aren't, but a win over a rival and break out games for players returning from injuries can help our confidence and that is something the Cards need more than a true point guard.
  13. Ok I have to comment on this. And I really do mean this with all respect and honesty, it is not out of blind loyalty but my objective opinion. Please read this in the spirit of friendly discussion and honesty because it is not meant to fan any fires. Petew is right on about Nichols, he is a very good coach with a group of good coaches around him. St.X just plain beat Manual that night in the game. Nichols' team just pounded Male two weeks before, that doesn't mean that Bob Redmen can't coach anymore! St.X beat Male worse than we did and beat us twice that kinda tells me that Glaser has a pretty talented group of kids this year, not that Nichols is a bad coach. It is an unfair label you are trying to place on one of the best young coaches in the state and I don't think that PeteW is too far off at all. When I first posted on this board in 2001 many X H and T fans (not Oxnard though) made me feel like a win over Manual as a preseason given too them and I was fool hearty to believe it could be any other way. But as Manual has become an annual top ten team instead of praising Nichols the trend is to bad mouth him. The only reason I can think of this is because many see Manual as a threat. Manual has a well earned reputation in educational achievement and a top ten 6A football program. Many parents like mine that are not especially wealthy see Manual as a top school with a football program that churns out d1 College caliber players, with more National Merit Semifinalist then any of the Catholics schools, as an equal option which has the added bonus of being free of tuition. My brothers and I are from a long line of Catholic kids that played for Manual whose parents worked hard and would have sent us to Catholic schools if they had too but were lucky enough that we got into Manual. And that is what is scary and dangerous for some, the fact that Manual is having success in football makes Manual a double threat to schools that charge tuition. That is why fans, parents and coaches at St.X were so happy about beating a team that has not beat them in 14 straight games. And so I think Pete is right about the smear campaign against Manual and Nichols, people are scared of a team and a coach that has not really even rivaled them yet for wins, titles or anything else on the football field, just because Joe is talented enough that he one day could lead a Manual team back to the title game. St.X won last week because as a team they played like the Best team in the state down to a man. Glaser didn't run any miracle plays or create new type of defense, the players on the field made plays and that is what happened. Good luck to the Tigers and win the title for the best district in 6A!:thumb:
  14. I would like to see Danville and Boyle County come up and play in the old rivalry bowl, have Manual vs Boyle and Male vs. Danville. Or vice versa, games like that which could pit two rivals against the other two rivals I think all four crowds would be interested in watching both games.
  15. I think it will be a good game, no telling what the score will be I just hope the Rams come out with at least one more than the Tigers.
