  1. Read where the locals' opinion of the Evarts field is that it is a horrible venue and is likely to not hold either team's expected fan base. If so, they need to consider playing the game at Cawood in the daylight (Friday or Saturday), or move to a suitable neutral field. I wonder how the official word will be disseminated if in fact the game has to be moved?
  2. I have thought of telling you where to go on a few occasions in the past, but it kind of takes the fun out of it when you ask. I would suggest Ryle and Trinity. Per your post, Colerain is going to play the Rocks, and they have this WR named Quick who is exciting to watch. Elusive, tough to tackle, and fast. If you are going to be imressed with a football player from Kentucky (I know, that is asking a lot, but humor me) this year, he may be the one. Anyway, you have all winter to watch that film over and over and over. So, get out and watch live HS football while you still can. Safe travels!
  3. As to the bolded part above, these boys have heard that all year. In fact, it is true, but thankfully, this year's Highlands team doesn't have to play past champions, but stand on their shoulders. So, the question isn't if they are as good as the last three championship teams, but are they good enough to beat the remaining competition in 5A. Harlan County, John Hardin and Christian County are all that are left, and the Birds only have to beat two out of the three. I like our chances. Following a 3.5 hour bus ride home last night, and getting to bed well past 2am, the team was back at it today in preparation for next week's game. They will be ready! I have watched the conversation threads since Harlan County opened a few years ago, and have kept up with the progress of your team. It is exciting to see so many things come together in a short time to land the Bears in the State Semi-Finals. Congrats on getting there. I am looking forward to the trip, and seeing your team in action.
  4. On the contrary. We specifically requested Internet-equipped coaches, so we can all take our laptops from work and stay up to date on the current BGP postings.:dancingpa In addition to posting our current location (I-75 South, mile marker 153), we may also post the results of the license-plate spotting game, and the price of Diesel and Regular gasoline at the various truck stops along our route. That is, until we get on the Parkway, and lose connectivity to the rest of the world for a bit.
  5. Having seen Mr. Jude myself, I can assure you this is not the case. He is a tough runner, and will not be brought down by an arm tackle. Time and time again in the JC/Ashland game, Jude was in the clutches of an Ashland player, only to break free and gain more yards. Of course, it didn't help that the other Ashland players not currently holding onto Jude slowed down or let up. He is an evasive runner and will be taken seriously this week. With that being said, having seen JC, I believe there are some opportunities to minimize his effectiveness that I hope we exploit this week. Time will tell. GO BIRDS! 20n10
  6. They didn't run it as much in their district game vs. Ashland as I would have expected. But then, they did't have to. Jude was unbelievably quick to the edge, and once a Tomcat or two missed, he was off to the races. Something like 3 touchdowns in the first 5 plays from scrimmage. Later on, they did run the belly, and ran it well, but nowhere near the kind of yardage they were getting outside.
  7. Maybe SK can do the same! Oh, wait a minute, you already played New Richmond and Schroeder. My bad! If Coach M hurries, I think you can still get a game with SCPA. I hear their new facilities are fantastic!
  8. Within the last 3 posts, there have been 4 different players named who would be "great" in some other capacity than what they are playing now. I don't think we are likely to see that many add some new position responsibilities to their current. It has nothing to do with what I believe they "can" do, as they are terrific athletes, but I just don't see Highlands going far away from the setup they have now.
  9. You just don't get it do you? The kids from outside the school district skew these numbers, too, just like they do in football.
  10. Having seen Jude this season, I can tell you there are some similarities, and a few key differences. I believe Jude is the faster of the two, and is able to get to the outside quicker than Elliott. Elliott is a more "powerful" runner, and does well up the middle. Jude's quickness through the hole gets him the yards, versus running over people in traffic. What impressed me most about Jude is that even though he isn't a big running back, he doesn't go down easy. Arm tackling will not work, and there were times when a single tackler had a good hold on him and he got away for significant yardage. Simply put, he isn't down until the whistle blows. Another factor to consider about these two running backs is the O Line blocking for them. Ryle's O Line came a long way since the beginning of the season, and played a good game Thursday night. While Johnson Central's line is big, I don't think they have the quickness that Ryle's has.
  11. Nice job of threadjacking! Should have titled your post something like "CardinalsFan declares that Highlands is ducking Colerain." Now, back to Highlands @ Ryle.
  12. Got it! Thanks for clarifying. BTW - Have you been sipping on uk#1fan's koolaid?
  13. Care to clarify? I don't get your point.
  14. Do you really think any fan in their right mind, with any inside knowledge of the team, answers either of your questions in an open forum? I guarantee you that Highlands will put 11 on the field for each play, and those 11 will be prepared.:thumb:
  15. It is Fox Sports Ohio here in the Cincinnati Metro area. They do have a web page for the individual Fox Sports regional channels, so maybe you can check there. Best of Luck
  16. Or maybe, a fired up home team, trying to prove UK #1 Fan wrong, feeling the pressure being heaped on by BGP posters galore, succumb to the immense scrutiny. OK, this is not likely to happen, but neither is the scenario you painted above. Sure, both teams have had games with more mistakes than they would like, but look for the best out of both tomorrow night. BTW - Make any more predictions like this one and we will have to ask you to take the Bluebird out of your screen name.
  17. Why? Are you expecting all of SK's coaches to apply?
  18. You make a good argument. SK may be in the early stages of building quite the dynasty, and none of us on here know. But, I am like many others on here, and I will believe it when I see it. So, to prove the point that SK is on the way up, what better way to showcase that than by playing Highlands over the next two years? Evidently, the Bulldog has called Highlands out for ducking SK, and I believe there have been numerous posters in this thread who claimed to have the connections to get Dale to the table to make the game a reality. The only question remaining is if the Bulldog, or someone in the SK contingent can bring Coach Marksberry to the table. Anyone?
  19. BP - If Cov Cath wins this one, they will be the #2 seed, and will be in the bracket with Johnson Central (more than likely). For them to have the re-match vs. Highlands, they will need to beat JC at JC.
  20. Don't believe everything you read. While I don't know for sure, I would find it incredibly remote that Dale objected to the request for a bye week for the wool festival.
  21. What I'm really, really hoping for is Johnson Central to overlook Cov Cath or Dixie thinking about Highlands!:thumb:
