  1. With the rotation HHS ran this past year, a lot of linemen got significant playing time, and there are at least 4 returnees who either started or played significant minutes. Mitch Dee (Center), Jason Thome and Richie Whitford (Tackles) and Tyler Schweitzer (Guard) are all returning, and there are a number of Juniors to be who may be in the rotation on the O-Line and will compete for a starting position. Spring football will give a good indication of those who have worked hard in the offseason and are ready to step up and claim their position.
  2. That's funny, right there! Actually, Highlands only has 2 or 3 trumpets this year, and both are underclassmen. And, I think I can say with confidence (former band goon myself), that there won't be any such posts defending the greatness of any members of the brass section.:walk:
  3. Saved this gem from last season's trip to Paintsville, KY. Extra credit awarded if you can guess what's in the Blue Solo Cup!
  4. Congratulations to both players! It will be a fun 4 days as they prepare in Louisville for the game and get to know other players from across the state. Hope they enjoy Golden Corral! (last year, every team meal for the KY players was eaten there)
  5. Just guessing here, but I would take LTI to mean Last Team In.
  6. I have no problem with the onside kick. Whether it is our 3rd string JV or starting Varsity, they should have been prepared. The front line looked like they had no idea it was coming. Bet they will be ready the next time they see it!
  7. Not a whole lot. #24 for Ryle was about the only offense the Raiders could muster. Took some shots, though, and got back up every time.
  8. As 75 Center points out, it would be surprising if as a team they feel this way. After all, they are still a GCL school, playing a KY school, which should be a cake walk for them (pun intended). I do see their earlier losses weighing on them mentally if the Birds can get up on them by a few scores early, and then get a 3 and out or two. That may begin to put some doubt in their minds.
  9. Sure, if they, like you, assume that the adjustments for Elder are the same that may be made for the Colonels if there is a next time.
  10. Disagree. I seem to recall back in Sweeperboy's era a phrase on every HHS team t-shirt - "Play To Win" The defensive game plan is concerning, but this fan isn't looking for any moral victory with a good defensive effort and a L for the record book.
  11. I will admit to having no knowledge whatsoever of either team and their games to this point, so my prediction is purely speculation, but I am going with Tates Creek at home on Homecoming. My son's college room mate is a distinguished alumnus of Tates Creek, and even though they are playing without him this season, I look for them to pull this one out!:dancingpa
  12. You do realize the irony in your post, when in another thread it was reported that SK was held scoreless against Campbell County, a team that had yet to win a game??? And now, you point at this game as reason for hope for SK when they play Dixie??
  13. I was wondering the same thing. Last season, after the loss to Ryle, the Birds went with a 4 or 5 man front for both Johnson Central and Harlan County, but both of those teams were overwhelming running teams. Of course, with Bir's passing ability, it will be more difficult to go with extra down linemen, unless you know you are going to get to him, or at least move him out of the pocket. The Elder game may be telling in what may be the strategy for a possible rematch, as the Panthers tend to have larger O Lines than most that Highlands will see.
  14. How do you figure? I have to admit, I am not familiar with too many D2 schools, and I don't think there are very many in the midwest, so maybe the level of competition isn't there. But, from what I have seen at the local D3 level, it takes a while to buid a successful program. So, what makes you so sure that NKU would dominate?
  15. It would cost NKU a ton of money to start a credible program, with equipment, recruiting, coaching, all the various costs associated with a football program. With the economy as it is, it would be a difficut sell for the administration to request $3 million to start football when the rest of the state's institutions of higher learning are cutting back. And then, it would throw out the equilibrium of Title 9 spending that they must have reached between their men's and women's programs. Lastly, to your question, what benefit could this possibly give the university that they want or need?
  16. Two possible answers; choose your favorite! 1 - Does anyone really care? 2 - Please take your feud with the fans of JCHS to a PM.
  17. Let's be clear hear. It was the JV that put some of those points on the board.
  18. I didn't mean to imply that we wouldn't see him at QB, because in fact, we may. Contrary to what the OP may have implied, there is no 2012 QB controversy brewing.
  19. And yet, you still clicked on a thread titled Highlands vs Mason County, perhaps in the hope that there wouldn't be any Highlands worship?
  20. No. Next season is just that, next season. Doesn't mean we won't see him, just that it isn't a given that to be the QB next season he HAS to see time in the next couple of games.
  21. You bring up a good point with the size difference between HHS D Line and Elder's O Line. With HHS' speed, the 3 man front has worked well up to now, but it may not be enough against that kind of size. Might we see a defensive scheme (4 or 5 man front) like last season's playoffs against JC and Harlan County?
  22. Not sure I follow your post. What's your point?
