What is the likelihood of Kentucky getting 2 wins at the Pit this year?

Featured Replies

Maybe not a shellackin.. But I see the Birds coming out with a win..

Honestly, I think it will be difficult for Highlands to beat Elder at the Pit. The game is late in the year, and Elder will likely be playing for their Ohio/Harbin point playoff lives at that time. A win against Highlands would be a big Harbin points coup for Elder, given that Highlands will probably be undefeated going into the game. Plus, it is at the Pit.

Also, I worry a bit that Highlands' strength of schedule will hurt them. Heading into this game, they are playing the likes of Pendleton County, Harrison County and Holmes. I doubt Highlands' starters will see a full three quarters in any of these three games. It will definitely take a full four-quarter effort for Highlands to beat Elder, and Elder's players will definitely be used to playing against tough competition week in and week out.

Obviously, Highlands is capable of winning this game. It will take a complete game with limited mistakes and a great coaching effort for the Bluebirds to come away with the win, in my opinion. Go 'Birds!

50/50. Elder is still a very good team, and T did not show hardly any of its offensive weapons in the scrimmage with HHS.

I dont think we should look ahead of the teams Highlands is set to play over the next several weeks. To start talking about Elder in the Pit would not be practical and may be disrespecting to the teams that Highlands has to play first. Just saying.

Why not. In reality, noone on the schedule prior to Elder will play within 5+ scores of them with exception to possibly CC, but, most likely that'll be alot like the Lasalle game.

I am being facetious. If you read the "Go ahead and order the rings" thread you will see why. lol

Highlands has the depth this year. However, do they have the size? Before anyone jumps down my throat w/ the James, St. X example, I'm being serious here. Dixie had success (albeit limited) running right at the Highlands D. Bruns is great, but even going one way, that size will take a toll on an undersized DLine. If any group can do it, they can. However, Elder has a ton of beef up front. Hopefully there is a speed difference decently close to the one that Trinity held. If there is, that will nullify what Elder will try to do.

Highlands has struggled with Elder in the past. Always seems like strange things happen in this game.

The Birds have never played Elder with a 2 platoon system..The boys used to get worn down in the 2nd half. I don't see that happening this year. I also think HHS has better overall team speed..

You bring up a good point with the size difference between HHS D Line and Elder's O Line. With HHS' speed, the 3 man front has worked well up to now, but it may not be enough against that kind of size. Might we see a defensive scheme (4 or 5 man front) like last season's playoffs against JC and Harlan County?

Highlands has the Elder fans' attention.

Good point. Though they had them at PBS in the 1st game there.

Highlands is capable of winning this game. Anytime you have a QB of Towles caliber, you gotta shot. However, Elder will still be the deeper and more talented team. Elder isn't Trinity fast, but, they aren't slow either as some are saying. They have some kids that can neautralize Highlands speed and they do have the bigger, stronger line. I think it'll be close, but, Elder likely wins by a score or less...
