Big opening District game. Tates Creek (3-4) coming off of a city win against Dunbar to push to 2-1 in the city. Madison Central (2-4) coming off of a 1 point loss to Henry Clay. Both looking to get established in the district. The teams boast 2 of the top running backs in the state. Dennis Oxendine (Jr.) comes in for Tates Creek having 910 yards through 7 games, an average of 130 yards per game. Madison Central counters with their own elite back in Dominique Hawkins who through 5 games had 811 yards, an average of 162 yards per game.

Which one gets on track should make the difference.

 

This one is being played on Homecoming night for Tates Creek, and I think that the young Tates Creek team playing their first 5 games on the road, and against some very good competition, are starting to gain traction. 2 losses to top 5 teams and 2 losses that should have been W's, lost in the last quarter by 1 score. Being through those games has helped this team mature as they are finding an identity, run the football, play action passing, clock management, and shut down the opponents passing attack has Creek thinking that they can win out and win both the district and city title. I think that this game will be another District grind with Tates Creek having the better defense winning 21-14 and getting to 4-4 and 1-0 in the District.

I think MC will win, but I have been wrong before. Yes it is a big district game. Will be watching the outcome of this game as we are in this district.

Both teams have dynamic running backs. Tates Creek playing at home on Homecoming with a good crowd should help the home team be comfortable. I don't see them losing this one, especially how Tates Creek handled Bryan Station for most of the game 2 weeks ago, then playing lights out defense to lock up Dunbar. Creek already locked Henry Clay up earlier in the year. MEanwhile, MAdison Central has had a very difficult time stopping the teams on their schedule. I don't see it. MAdison Central will throw the ball some, and that should lead to a very good secondary being able to make plays for Tates Creek. Either way, will be a good game.

Defense will win this match up based on who can stop the other teams running game. Experience also favors Oxendine. I think Tates Creek wins this one, but it will be close.

For some reason our kids don't seem to play as well on Homecoming night...so much going on and not staying focused I guess. One of the reasons I thought MC had a chance. Guess your kids handle this the way they should. Should be a great game. Any where on the web we can listen?

The "city title" will likely come down to the winner of the TC-Lafayette game. That will be a good game!

Never said Lafayette didn't have a say so. They are the favorite in Lexington having the most experienced group this year. Yet Creek sits at 2-1 in Lexington already and with a win over Lafayette would finish 3-1 and the City champs. But that is 2 games away, Creek is focused on Madison Central and the district.

After looking at some addititional MAdison Central footage, this will be a very good game. Central has a very good offense. They put up points. Will be a stiff test for Tates Creek. I'll adjust my scoring prediction to more of a 28-24 type game.

I totally agree. As well is Tates Creek. Creek should be 5-2. Tough loss to Station when up 22-6 at half, then got "hosed at Corbin" lost 21-14 in a game they dominated. This one will definitely be an exciting, tough game. I am very excited to see these 2 running backs go at it, and also watch the Creek Secondary play against a strong passing attack with Stocker at the helm for Central. Will be a great one....

I will admit to having no knowledge whatsoever of either team and their games to this point, so my prediction is purely speculation, but I am going with Tates Creek at home on Homecoming. My son's college room mate is a distinguished alumnus of Tates Creek, and even though they are playing without him this season, I look for them to pull this one out!:dancingpa
