  1. I totally agree. As well is Tates Creek. Creek should be 5-2. Tough loss to Station when up 22-6 at half, then got "hosed at Corbin" lost 21-14 in a game they dominated. This one will definitely be an exciting, tough game. I am very excited to see these 2 running backs go at it, and also watch the Creek Secondary play against a strong passing attack with Stocker at the helm for Central. Will be a great one....
  2. After looking at some addititional MAdison Central footage, this will be a very good game. Central has a very good offense. They put up points. Will be a stiff test for Tates Creek. I'll adjust my scoring prediction to more of a 28-24 type game.
  3. Never said Lafayette didn't have a say so. They are the favorite in Lexington having the most experienced group this year. Yet Creek sits at 2-1 in Lexington already and with a win over Lafayette would finish 3-1 and the City champs. But that is 2 games away, Creek is focused on Madison Central and the district.
  4. I have been wrong before as well lol....especially when it pertains to High School kids. But I see mirror image type teams that are very young and Tates Creek having a better Defense. Both teams have dynamic running backs. Tates Creek playing at home on Homecoming with a good crowd should help the home team be comfortable. I don't see them losing this one, especially how Tates Creek handled Bryan Station for most of the game 2 weeks ago, then playing lights out defense to lock up Dunbar. Creek already locked Henry Clay up earlier in the year. MEanwhile, MAdison Central has had a very difficult time stopping the teams on their schedule. I don't see it. MAdison Central will throw the ball some, and that should lead to a very good secondary being able to make plays for Tates Creek. Either way, will be a good game.
  5. Big opening District game. Tates Creek (3-4) coming off of a city win against Dunbar to push to 2-1 in the city. Madison Central (2-4) coming off of a 1 point loss to Henry Clay. Both looking to get established in the district. The teams boast 2 of the top running backs in the state. Dennis Oxendine (Jr.) comes in for Tates Creek having 910 yards through 7 games, an average of 130 yards per game. Madison Central counters with their own elite back in Dominique Hawkins who through 5 games had 811 yards, an average of 162 yards per game. The 2 teams have played 3 like opponents and have had similar results. Tates Creek went 2-1 against Henry Clay, Dunbar, and Scott County. While Madison Central went 1-2 against the same competition. Tates Creek @ Henry Clay 21-14 W Madison Central vs. Henry Clay 28-27 L Tates Creek vs. Dunbar 13-7 W Madison Central @ Dunbar 47-23 W Tates Creek @ Scott County 55-8 L Madison Central vs. Scott County 35-6 L Some interesting stats going into the game. Tates Creek's Pass Defense through 6 games was ranked 2nd in the state, giving up just 65 yards per game, against a passing offense from MAdison Central that averages 136 yards per game through the air. Conversely, MAdison Central's pass defense is giving up 171 passing yards per game, while Tates Creek only averages 57 yards per game through the air. Which one gets on track should make the difference. This one is being played on Homecoming night for Tates Creek, and I think that the young Tates Creek team playing their first 5 games on the road, and against some very good competition, are starting to gain traction. 2 losses to top 5 teams and 2 losses that should have been W's, lost in the last quarter by 1 score. Being through those games has helped this team mature as they are finding an identity, run the football, play action passing, clock management, and shut down the opponents passing attack has Creek thinking that they can win out and win both the district and city title. I think that this game will be another District grind with Tates Creek having the better defense winning 21-14 and getting to 4-4 and 1-0 in the District.
  6. Not sure if Bubba (#5) is playing this week, he was out last week. This will turn into a typical city rivalry game. Both teams have explosive playmakers in Davion Jackson from Clay, and Johnson and Edwards from LAfayette. Henry clay may have found there legs last week as they looked impressive while LAfayette played a tough game against Dunbar. Should be a very good game. Jeremy SMith QB from LAfayette will be key, he will orchestrate the powerful offense against the Clay D.
  7. Can Tates Creek come home and get back to good football after playing 5 road games against Top ranked teams? That is the question. Tates Creek and Station will be a very good game. I would like to see Creek stack the box and make Station beat them through the air. Look for a big game out of #55 TD Jemison, as I cannot see any of the Station O-Linemen being able to contain him, he whipped Darian Miller from station last year, and he is currently starting at UK.
  8. I watched Scott County up close and personal last week against my son's team Tates Creek. They are everything that they are cracked up to be. They have a great combination of skill, speed, defense, and very good coaching. Scott County will go as far as they can in the playoffs barring injury until they play Trinity. After first hand witnessing Tates Creek play #4 Butler, #2 Ryle, and #3 Scott County, you can clearly see that Scott County was the best of these teams. I have no affinity for Scott County at all, but the truth is the truth, they are simply a very good football team. They have a very strong backfield with a very smart and heady QB. Very good skill positions, and a stout defense. The score disparity is not as much about the weakness of the schedule, but more indicative of how good they are defensively. Just a very good football team. The only chink in the armor that I saw is that they don't throw the ball particularly well. They only 68 passing yards. But a very strong team.
  9. Definitely look forward to this one. Im looking to see just how much the young Commodores have grown. Coach Harmon has done a great job bringing along this young team. And he has done it with throwing them to the fire against some stiff comp early in the schedule. Including the schedule that is reflected above, they also played in their live scrimmage against #4 Louisville Butler. But what he has also done, is gone to a more ball control clock management style to help keep the other offense off of the field. Interior Lineman #55 TD Jemison will need to play big and wreak havoc in the backfield to disrupt the misdirection of Scott county. Will be an interesting game...
  10. This is a discussion that has no true real answer......so for all the emphatic and definitive statements, understand that they are only "opinions" as these teams will never play head to head. But I grew up as a coach's son at the University of Kentucky. I played ball myself through college, and have watched a ton of football since, my son also starts for Tates Creek currently and is a sophomore. I say all of that to tell you that in my estimation, from all the football that I have witnessed, including many State Championship games, there is no better backfield then that of 1991 Clark County's Eric Clay (EKU) Jerome Embry (Marshall QB) and Tim Hampton. Most folks that I have talked to that remember those times, said it was the best backfield assembled in Kentucky history. I saw it up close and personal on the wrong end of the Dunbar debacle in the playoffs that year.......Clark county out of the WIng-T were as an explosive of an offense as I have witnessed. there have been teams that can throw the ball better, but not move the ball better and have as many explosive plays out of their backfield from all three positions. QB, RB, and FB all Dynamic D1 talents. ELite.....They also finished ranked 14th in USA TODAY's Super 25. I say that as MY opinion, if it makes folks feel better to have to say that this team is the greatest of all time, then so be it. Just make sure to put Clark County and their ultra explosive backfield as a truly great team that went undefeated, and beat both the traditional powers en route to the State Title.
  11. A little premature with this discussion, but they are definitely on the path. I would say the Clark county team from 91 that beat both x and Trinity to finish undefeated and won the state was one of the best teams ever. Loaded in the backfield. Best team I have seen, and I played against that group personally.
  12. Just a question. Obviously the Trinity omission is laughable, but if Henry Clay is yet to win a game, and Tates Creek beat Henry Clay at Henry Clay this past week, how can Tates Creek not be ranked ahead of Clay?
  13. While I realize that Scott county is strong and should definitely be favored over the young Tates Creek Squad. HAving 2 D1 Caliber corners takes away a ton of passing game in High School. For Example, Tates Creek's defense over the last 4 games. Passing Defense......Against #8 E. Jessamine----0 Catches 0 Yards #5 Corbin-----------69 passing yards. #17 Henry Clay-----33 Passing Yards #3 Ryle--------------106 passing (mostly screens)----(52 yds/game avg.) None of these games were any team even remotely close to being able to establish passing outside to the receivers. Now you may be right, they can throw to the FB, and TE, but you can negate throwing outside. And I can promise you, that D. Oxendine will be able to move the ball on the ground. I won't promise 200+, but Tates Creek does average 210 yards per game on the ground. And that is against very good competition and on the road. Don't be surprised when this game is alot closer than you think.
  14. my apologies. Was at Station. Both teams were handled, now need to bounce back. Have a mirror image with explosive playmakers in the backfield on the ground, not much through the air. Should be a good one.
  15. Is a good question. Both teams must rebound after being handled at home. The teams are very similar with having an explosive player in the backfield but not much through the air or sustained offense. Should be a good one.
