Has the "drive for five" become the most lackluster season in Bluebird history?

Featured Replies

Here you have it: 4 wax jobs of Harrison, Holmes, Pendleton, and Mason Co. Mason's game was a bust when their stud RB Harris had his season end prematurely. They played a Dixie squad that was billed as "Pike vs. Towles". However, it was anything but with their best RB out and an awful defensive effort to boot. The Ryle game will be much of the same with Elliott now out. To add insult to injury, the Birds let Cov. Cath hang 37 on em'. So now we have the latest buzzkill in what was billed by many as one of the best crosstown rivalries of 2011, now seemingly turning into a game that has absolutely no meaningful significance whatsoever. Yet still, with the season almost over, most fans are still scratching their heads wondering just how good the Birds really are this year......

I agree. Hard to gauge how good this squad really is.

Only in Ft. Thomas could a possible/probable State Championship season be called "lackluster." LOL!!

The pumkin patch down in Silver Grove is selling 2 for 1 pumkins tonite only. Must be because of the rain.

Jeez Louise quit whining about your success!

Interesting! :sssh:

WOW, HHS let CovCath hang 37 on them? You are kidding, aren't you? Let them?

That has got to be the most over the top comment posted on BGP's even by a HHS fan. I guess CovCath outstanding O-line, Gabe Gray, Blake Bir and his Wr's had better send a thank you note to HHS thanking the Bluebirds for laying down!

Why not say instead, that CovCath gave HHS all they could handle but still won the game! But HHS let them?

Did you catch the price SB? Meijer in Cold Spring had pumpkins 2 for 5 bucks.

... agreed. Whackem must have lost his meds. LOL. You can blame the KHSAA for the "lacklusterness" of the 3 of the 4 games you mentioned. Is that even a word?? Dale Mueller keeps running Bentleys and BMWs off the Fort Thomas lot and some in Sperrys want to find a reason to complain.

This season has been as enjoyable as any in recent memory. As an HHS fan we should enjoy the ride PT and the boys have taken us these last 3 seasons. In the words of one of my favorite disney characters the immortal Buzz Lightyear... To infinity and beyond.... Drive for 5!!

I believe the 1st team offense has played a total of 20 full qtrs the entire season out of 32.

I guess the Bluebirds need Covington Catholic to upset them in the playoffs so their season is so “lackluster” anymore?

I am sure the Elder-Highlands game has a great deal of meaning to the players and coaches involved in the game. I know it has a great deal of meaning to me, as my alma mater is playing a game at one of the most famous venues in the nation against an opponent HHS has never defeated. From what I've heard, this game is probably still a toss-up, even with the suspensions.

Also, TOG is right... HHS didn't let CCH score 37, CCH earned those points by having a potent offense and playing well. It seems that NKY's best football rivalry is now back in full force... hardly what I would call lackluster.

We all know that CCH put it to the Birds. Don't fall for that TOG bologna. He's spinnin' to incite the CCH contingent on here. No need for PR control.

Don't serve bologna, but the CovCath O-line guy's do love to serve Pancakes each week :D..... And lets not forget, it wasn't me who wrote "HHS let CovCath hang 37 on them" :idunno::walk:
