The announcers mentioned "shennigans this week" and then talked about sophomore defensive backs. Did something happen with the Elder team this week?

Fun game to watch! Congrats Birds

The little team from Kentucky finally takes down the mighty Purple hoard!

This is such an amazing mirror of Towles' debut against St. X. McCoy had a few mistakes, but his experience showed tonight.

I know Towles got knocked out of the game but still shocked by what the Birds gave up to Elder. I have seen Elder in person 2 times this season and HHS one game and a half of another. A little shocked by the score. I wonder how much of a difference Towles would have made. I hope the kid is OK, and gets back to full health and on the field soon. A win is still a win, and I'm sure Dale is celebrating like it's the Super Bowl. What is his record vs GCL schools now?

Nice win. It looks like the birds need to work on their punting game. Hopefully Towles will be back next week. Elder had a lot of breaks and the birds still pull it out with a back up quarterback. Overall, great effort by the birds.

I think 3 players got in trouble and were not allowed to play tonight.

I believe it was more like 13 players.

Just finished watching the internet feed from Elder and they did a great job with it! As did the Birds with the game! Game balls to Carter New, Bowden, Devon Bruns, and WOW!...Moose McCoy and AUSTIN SHEEHAN. Somebody PLEEEEASE give Ozzie a scholly....WHAT MORE DOES HE HAVE TO DO? Hope big #8 is ok and gets back quickly. But you gotta be impressed about the way Moose played (save the one unfortunate fumble for 6).

Maybe the Birds should have put the second stringers in for their punts. Those guys have all the punting experience this season.

Can't say enough about Ozzie, True, Bruns and really...everybody!

Great game just like my prediction thought it would go down to the wire, go Birds the Elder monkey is in the cage!

Wow!!!! Way to go HHS! I couldn't watch the final quarter, but from what I saw the 'Birds showed a lot of heart after losing Towles to a concussion.

I must admit, after seeing how things were going (HHS down by 10) early in the second quarter with no Towles at QB, I thought HHS was dead in the water. The defense really stepped it up, and what can you say about McCoy and Sheehan!!!!!! When you consider the punting miscues that led to an Elder TD and then a safety, and the McCoy fumble that Elder scored a TD on, HHS' defense was stout! Surely, this must make a lot of Bluebirds' fans more relieved when thinking about a possible CCH rematch.

HHS beats Elder for the first time EVER, and at The Pit no less!

Boy, McCoy is Mr. Clutch! Last year in the playoffs he comes in for an injured Towles in a game HHS was trailing Dixie and plays great. Now this effort! That's a winner (and HHS' future starting QB next season)!

Before the game, a lot of people were saying that this game was going to be "no-win" for HHS, on account of the Elder suspensions. Not so!!! HHS proved that despite losing their All-Everything QB after the very first series of the game the Bluebirds were able to do what needed to be done for the win! It's a proud day for the Bluebird Nation!

The EHS announcers were stating that Towles looked fine on the sideline and they felt he was being kept out as a precaution. Hopefully that is the case and he will be ready to go for the "drive for five!"

The headline on nky.com at the top says Highlands lost at Elder. They may want to update that. Maybe an Elder grad?

High school football postseason approaches

Among highlights this weekend: Ryle won at Dixie Heights, Highlands lost at Elder and Bellevue defeated Dayton. Tomorrow, NewCath battles Holy Cross. Get updates on our live scoreboard page.

In national news, Dewey defeats Truman...again!!

I believe someone pointed out in "the pit" thread, the Massey ratings had the Birds winning 34-32. That was a pretty good prediction.
