CCH almost gets the Hail Mary at the end of the game to tie it.

Both teams did not play their best, but clearly this is a huge confidence booster for CCH. They dominated the 2nd half.

Wow...Alot closer than I would have expected. Maybe the Bluebirds aren't quite as invincible as most originally thought. Still the team to beat, for sure, but, i'm sure this score will give several of these other

5a teams a little bit more confidence should they meet up with them in the playoffs...

Wake up call for Birds. Nobody will come within 3 TD's until Championship game. They had as many turnovers tonight as they will have rest of season. JMO.

Sounds as if the bluebirds were really exposing some flaws in the 2nd half. Not only a lost fumble, a delay of game, but how many times were they either sacked or dropped in the backfield? Probably lucky to sqeak out a victory. A win is a win I suppose, but i'm sure the bluebird faithfull will not accept this kind of performance going forward.

I am sure you're right, but no doubt still the team to beat.

This was UGLY, and the Birds were one catch away from a stunning upset. But it's not at all unexpected from an HHS/Cov Cath battle -- anything can happen!

The Birds should have put this thing away early. They just seemed to get sloppy and complacent.

CCH turned the ball over three times as well.

Alex Connelly was a complete mismatch for the the entire Bluebirds secondary. CCH needs to find a way to get him the ball more.

The defense played extremely inspired and seem to live in the Bluebird backfield in the 4th quarter.

Birds turned the ball over and the young Bir did a good job passing. He has to cut down on the INT's but in 2 years he will be one of the top 10 QB's in the state. Highlands passing game didn't get it going much second half was quiet.

The Colonels played very inspired ball tonight. Hats off to them, and their fans I might add. Their fans were very vocal. Birds made too many mistakes and looked as if they were just going through the motions after the first 3 or 4 series. Gotta play a complete game boys. Give a good team some confidence and it is amazing what can happen.

Highlands scored a TD on the first play from scrimmage. 80-yard pass from Towles to Compton. XP good. Highlands was up 7-0 after 19 seconds into the 1st quarter. Highlands up 20-0 at the start of the 2nd quarter. The last time the Colonels played in Ft. Thomas the score was 54 - 0 at half. From a couple of minutes into the 2nd quarter to the end of the game, Cov. Cath. outscored the Bluebirds 20 to 7. A win is a win, so congratulations to the Bluebirds but this was a very respectable showing by the Colonels. :notworthy:

If you want a good laugh , go back and read the prediction thread of this game. Some posters on that thread need to lay off the blue cool-aid .

The only thing that was not unexpected was HHS 80 yard score on their first play. CCH passing set up their running nicely. HHS D was playing reactionary. CCH's plan was very effective. A 2nd half drop of a 3rd down pass by HHS in front of their bench at the 25 was pivital. HHS put no pressure on Burr, but CCH picked up momentum in their harassment of Towles as the game progressed. From my perspective, the stripes made some strange calls. Was the HHS receiver really in bounds on the TD catch? Wasn't Streeter down before loosing the ball? When HHS was called for interference on the interception in the endzone, that may have been a fair call, but likewise, the offensive player was also interferring as HHS made the catch. When CCH received the 2nd half kick on the goal line, I was expecting a whistle? Oh well, they are only high school refs. CCH has HHS rattled tonight, yet the Birds get the W.
