They didn't come out flat. They scored on the first play of the game and were up 20-0. I think once they got up they became complacent. If they play in the playoffs I believe it will be a different story..

They didn't come out flat but it sure seemed they went flat after answering the second half kickoff return with their own score. They just seemed out of sync on both sides of the ball after that. Obviously there were a lot of reasons, CCH play being a main one.

Because HHS didn't blitz..When you only have to block 3 guys you should have all night.

Honestly, isn't this what we all want to see when CovCath and Highlands meet? I only wish I could have been there for it, but I was at something much more important, as hard as that is to imagine.

There's just something missing from this thread.

Highlands was fortunate (and maybe lucky) to get the win. If CCH had connected on some of their passes earlier in the game HHS may have taken a loss tonight. The HHS webcast announcers said the CCH receivers were wide open for most of the game.

 

I have a question for the Highlands fans who've seen them play several games this year. What's the issue with Highlands' pass defense? They got exposed by Trinity in the scrimmage, but people gave the excuse that Bruns (HHS' best DB) was hurt and did not play. They gave up a ton of passing yardage to a Withrow team that is not doing well at all over in Cincy (and I'm pretty sure HHS had a healthy secondary). As I mentioned earlier, the HHS web announcers said CCH receivers were open all night long. At the start of the year a lot of people were saying that HHS would have one of the best defensive backfields in the state. What has happened? Also, it sounds like for the last two games HHS has not been getting much pressure on the QB.

In a rivalry game like this, you gotta take a win any way you can get it, and with that in mind congrats to Highlands on the victory. Also, kudos to CCH for playing tough and taking it to the wire.

 

Well, its simple. It has everything to do with the loss of 2 yr starter and Jr. Josh Quillen at Outside LBer for the season after sustaining a season ending ankle injury, the Coaches were forced to move PreSeason Ky Defensive player of the yr Austin Abner from his CB position to LB and then move in a very inexperience group of young kids in to fill his spot and you have some exposure. Quillen doesnt get hurt and nobody throws on Highlands the way some are thinking they are. BTW, the yound DB's that have stepped in for the Birds are doing an excellent job with Carter New coming up with a hugh pick last nite with CC driving. Abner has a pick last nite from his LB spot and Loflands late pick in the end of the game seals the win. Seidl was laying the wood and ppl say the Birds are soft in the secondary. Yeah, there were some holes, but for obvious reasons I wont go into why? For those bashing the HHS Defense, a quick reminder. I believe HHS Defense was on the field last nite for 34 mins and gave up 1 Td. CovCath has a great, not average but great kicker who gets 3 fgs and the special teams td. Not bad for a bunch of Defensive backs that were exposed. Offense takes care of the football and Highlands wins this one by a bunch. Go Birds 20n10
