They had as many turnovers tonight as they will have rest of season. JMO.

Highlands was fortunate (and maybe lucky) to get the win. If CCH had connected on some of their passes earlier in the game HHS may have taken a loss tonight. The HHS webcast announcers said the CCH receivers were wide open for most of the game.

 

I have a question for the Highlands fans who've seen them play several games this year. What's the issue with Highlands' pass defense? They got exposed by Trinity in the scrimmage, but people gave the excuse that Bruns (HHS' best DB) was hurt and did not play. They gave up a ton of passing yardage to a Withrow team that is not doing well at all over in Cincy (and I'm pretty sure HHS had a healthy secondary). As I mentioned earlier, the HHS web announcers said CCH receivers were open all night long. At the start of the year a lot of people were saying that HHS would have one of the best defensive backfields in the state. What has happened? Also, it sounds like for the last two games HHS has not been getting much pressure on the QB.

In a rivalry game like this, you gotta take a win any way you can get it, and with that in mind congrats to Highlands on the victory. Also, kudos to CCH for playing tough and taking it to the wire.

I think you meant "Your Clowns". Great game plan by the colonels tonight! They played a great game!! Would not want to be going to Birds practice tomorrow morning....Live and learn! Will take the W and move on.

There are no moral victories at CovCath but I for one am extremely proud of this group of young men and their Coaches. CovCath took a couple of HHS hay makers on the chin early in the game but came right back and from the second quarter on did a rather good job of stopping HHS and letting HHS know that this group of CovCath Colonels were not going to lay down.

 

Towles has to be a very sore young man tonight, as in the fourth quarter, he got hit and hit and hit by the CovCath "D".

I think it simply comes down to the fact that other teams not named Highlands can run a spread offense now. CovCath was running the Highlands offense right at them. Ryle has converted to a form of the spread as well. It's just a new trend. When you have 4+ receivers on the field with a capable QB, and a line that gives him time, he is gonna find open people. You can't expect high school kids to cover that well (not saying you do.) Kids today are faster and skill positions have more value from top to bottom.

On a side note, the QB for the Colonels the last time they beat the Birds, Josh Bleser, is on ESPN this evening punting for Louisville against Cincy.

You got that right? The HHS D line did nothing tonight? The linebackers appeared to be playing up hill rather than "down hill"? Not sure what that was about. Not your typical HHS game plan. Must have been a reason, but you cannot let a talented QB like that sit in the pocket for that long. He had all day. He picked the birds apart. gotta get better!
