Let me ask this out of curiosity. If CCHHS were to do the same drills, same lifts and put in the same amount of time as HHS, would you expect better results than they are currently getting?

Can't speak for everyone else, but it really is hard to acknowledge that it is all about some athletes who chose HHS vs. their 'home school." I just don't believe that a few (whatever number that is) students who transfer in make all the difference in the success. Sure, there have been some of those kind of players through the years, but certainly not every year, and more often than not, not a predominant number of players on the team. It just isn't in the numbers that some estimate. Lastly, accepting the notion you propose that the major contributor to success is the high number of outstanding athletes who transfer in vs. locals is a recipe for mediocrity. Whether or not Highlands works harder than everyone else around is really irrelevant and hard to measure. As long as they (players and coaches) consistently work as hard as they can (which they do) in all they do, the results will be there.

Just having a little fun with UK Fan #1. As VOR pointed out earlier, UK Fan #1 is the most unwavering and supportive fan on here. I am hoping to get some more insights into the actual 7 on 7 without the hype, so we'll see if that makes it here later.

As to the first bolded part, isn't that just a blanket statement to say that everyone hates Highlands? Do you really believe that to be true? And, as for the second bolded part (Highlands is hated because of who they think they are), let's be very clear here. You and the other haters (your words) may hate Highlands, but it is because of who you think we think we are. There is a big difference between the two, and it is your perceptions that have led to your feelings. You may even have examples of behaviors that have led you to the perceptions you have, but you have chosen your response.

I just have to ask. Is the bolded part above the foundation for sandbagging tomorrow, if in fact, Highlands plays respectably against SK? It sure looks like you are getting ready to say that since SK has been playing so many subs in key positions, and not playing all their best players both ways, that could be what let the birds keep it close, instead of the runaway trouncing you might normally expect when such a fast, explosive team (SK) plays a perennially slow team. Just speculating.......

Interesting scenario. For this to happen, both teams must be first in their district, and then the game would be at Johnson Central. If either are a two seed, the game would be in the second round, vs the third, at the higher seed's field. The Johnson Central at Ashland Paul Blazer (October 8th) has large implications for this scenario, as Ashland may be the only team in that district to challenge the Eagles. Of course, HHS will have to take care of business in their own district as well.

Your post seems to allude to the fact that you see these titles as mutually exclusive. I would suggest that a BG Prepster of your status is capable of holding multiple titles simultaneously!

Well, the way I read your original post on the subject of Highlands playing Scott was a bit disparaging toward Highlands for playing Scott. My reply was simply meant to illuminate the fact that Highlands doesn't get to choose district games. Not to mention, disrespectful towards the hard working players at Scott.

The "official" team schedule sent home shows two for the week of 7/19 and one for the week of 7/26. However, this schedule was put together way back in the spring, so the dates for 7 on 7 were mostly tentative back then, and have been updated since then, I am sure.

Good thing it will be easy to replace their O Line. Or, since the QB is so fast, he really only needs a center to get him the ball, and 4 other big guys to stand in the way of the defense for a second, or two at the most, and then he is gone. I applaud your unflinching sense of optimism about this year's team. If they turn out nearly as good as you make them out to be, it will be fun reading your posts every Friday night/Saturday morning!

Yes, there is a rule against it. The definition of what makes it a team event provides the gray area. So, a group of players, who all go to the same school, go to an outside tournament on their own in another state, and even if they are not using any school equipment, the scenario COULD be construed as a team event. In the end, fighting the various interpretations of the Dead Period rules just isn't a battle worth getting into.

I can appreciate the logic you used to arrive at your prediction. I do feel that the predictions of breaking in the new O-Line have been overstated, but I admit to being biased. While some parts of the various HHS threads have categorized the O-Line as perhaps being the weakest part of the offense now, that does not equate to them being weak. As has been stated by Malachicrunch and UCRN, Coach Turner has started with the same number returning starters or less, and has fielded a strong unit. It will be extremely tough for Ryle to come in to DCM and pull off the win. The senior class remembers the game 3 years ago as Freshmen, and I predict they will play with plenty of intensity and focus.

Sure do. In fact, I think most everyone on here except you believes that Ryle is going to be a real solid team this year. Time may prove one or both of us wrong, but with the progress the Ryle program has made consistently over the last 5 years, coupled with the returning starters, one could reasonably conclude that Ryle has a chance in this game as well as in every one of the 9 others in the regular season. That being said, I know Highlands will be prepared and enter the game with a solid game plan, and will not take this opponent as lightly as you would suggest. I am just hoping the weather is better on the night this game is played, compared to the last time Ryle was on FOX Sports Ohio.

This isn't a team event. Just some of the guys going to Notre Dame for a 7 on 7 tournament. No coaches participating, only players and their families headed to South Bend.
